In both the Kon-Tiki and Ra exhibitions there are separate children exhibitions. The Kon-Tiki Museum also houses one of the most comprehensive exhibitions about Easter Island in the world, including a replica of a family cave from Easter Island. Underneath the Kon-Tiki raft is a special underwater exhibit that is fun for kids. Cinema screening the original Kon-Tiki documentary movie (Oscar for best documentary in 1951) every day at 12:00. The museum is dedicated to a famous Norwegian traveller Thor Heyerdahl and his intriguing voyages. It gives the full knowledge of the routes, transport, companions and difficulties they met on their way. Information is given in comfortable way: you can find videos, books, real photos and stuff brought from the expedition. The story of Heyerdahl and his teams in impressive, and this museum reflects the details precisely. I do recommend visiting the museum, it is definitely worth your time.

Ra II and Kon-Tiki are there, along with routes mapped out; explanations, and artifacts. If you are there at noon, you can see the Kon-Tiki movie for free; otherwise, there is an original film of about 10 minutes to view that shows the crew coming ashore on their raft.

There is also a life-sized "underwater" display, and "caverns" to walk through that reveal artifacts. Easter Island statues are highlighted as well, as Heyerdahl wished to preserve some in his museum.

I liked this museum because real objects and rafts are displayed, and the reading is not so heavy; the two films are available, as well. It was a beautiful day when we went, on the boat to the peninsula where the museum is. One could just go and enjoy the outdoors there. The Fram museum is there, as well (polar trek).

Having watched the latest movie on Kon Tiki, it was so cool to see the actual boats and more real info on the people involved.

We toured with our own guide so we had little time to read the displays. It is a good museum and well worth seeing the raft and understanding the concept behind the whole voyage.
