“Can't miss”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

You really can't avoid this street. You can find everything here - food, drink, shopping, banks, chocolate, music, coffee, public transportation, art, fountains, public restrooms, parliament. Great people watching. We strolled down this street so many times and saw/did something delicious each time.

“A must see in Oslo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

High energy and a vibrant city center with a pinch of history. I was staying just around the corner from Karl Johans gate, my first walk was on a Sunday, the place was full with people, local and tourists. Many restaurants have outdoor seating, makes for a great spot to people watch and enjoy the nice crisp weather. I made a point to walk down the Gate everyday before I went back to my hotel.

“Trolls and knitwear”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

Karl Johans Gate is the main shopping street in Oslo. At the lower end is the Central Station then it is a long slog uphill to the Royal Palace at the top. The lower half is pedestrianised where you will find a number of stalls set up selling iconic Norwegian goodies such as ugly looking trolls and knitted hats and jumpers. Further along you pass the Cathedral, some fast food joints and the Parliament (Stortinget). The street is great during the day but has a rough element after about 11pm.

“A mix of everything”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

From clothes store, to street music and art to resturants, everything are at Karl Johans gate.

Tip for visitors: take lots of energy and money with you. It would be fun to enter all the shops and entertain yourselves watching the street artists.. Enjoy!

“Once a joy.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

This is Oslos main street. At day time a joy, at Nights invaded by African hookers, con-artists, and beggars.
Still safe to walk, but bloody irritating.
