Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo
Ranked #30 of 102 Hotels in Oslo
Reviewed 13 November 2011

We stayed at this hotel from 24/07/2011 to 28/07/2011.
We had booked our Business Class rooms sevral months in advance.
First the hotel could not find our reservations!!
Second we requested help with our bags as we were 4 persons(3 ladies) all in our seventies
but reception & concierge curtly refused to help as they were too busy- not even an offer to leave bags in reception & they would send them up later.
Third our room was not of Business class level & had fused lights & ironing board hanging on
one nail. No amenities were provided as per booking until we asked form the same.
At checkout they tried to charge us for one night which was prepaid.
Hotel maintenance - pathetic.
Hotel attitude - uncaring.
Recommend stay away from this hotel

Room Tip: Don't stay here!!

This hotel was amazing. The train station in Oslo is huge and very much like an airport. Lots of sotres and restaurants. The hotel is right behind the station. You don't have to go outside just push your buggy right up to the hotel. The room was very nice with excellent big beds and a big tub, free WIFI. The breakfast was impressive. They had everything, eggs, bacon, fruit. The view was also great and the hotel is only a couple of blocks from the main town.

As a centrally placed "landmark" hotel the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel is ideal if exploring Oslo. As one of the tallest buildings in Oslo it's also pretty easy to find, adjacent to the palace as it is.

I travelled on business and found the room I stayed in to be of a typical 4 star standard that I would expect for a European hotel, free wifi,

The property is massive, at 19 floors and this did mean that the public areas were quite large, so if you prefer smaller boutique hotels you might be a bit overwhelmed by this one. The dinning area in particular with its double height ceiling is quite imposing, which I personally liked but may not be for everyone

Service was friendly and brisk, so no complaints; if only they could do soemthing about the prices in Oslo, I'd go there more often

I recommend the bar at the top of the hotel for an excellent view of the city

All in all one of the better chain hotels

Stayed recently for two nights. Radisson Plaza is a huge property with 30+ floors. From what I understand there's been little refurbishment since the hotel first opened in the late 1980s.

Though won't feel outright let down by the quality of the hotel; the rooms, service, amenities are fine, I left the feeling that little effort is being made to push the standards above "just fine". There's free wi-fi (as it should be) and the rooms are usual dated Radisson standard. However, do watch out for the weird door locking system: you have physically lock the doors by inserting the plastic key card (the door doesn't lock automatically upon closing it, as in 99% of modern hotel room doors). I can imagine a lot of people leave their doors unlocked by mistake.

The location is great, right by the central train station (from which you can take the airport express train), but do watch out by night as it's not the most savoury area of town.

The breakfast was a disappointment. Understaffed and overcrowded, coffee being spilled everywhere and bits of food on the floor without being cleared.

Generally, it's ok but for the price I paid I would consider other options next time.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights -- the last leg of a three city tour (Stockholm-Gothenburg-Oslo). Have a drink on your first night at the bar on the 34th floor. Ask the bartender to point out the ski jump site. We found it a great way to orientate ourselves in the city. We enjoyed our stay in this business class hotel. The only downside was the wireless broadband was clearly unable to cope with download traffic from 8pm onwards. The only time I could log on properly was past midnight. The management may want to increase their wireless internet bandwidth as it was really inconvenient having to stay up just to access the internet. We didn't have a plug-in option as we were travelling light with two ipads.

I can't know the Radisson Blu, it is what it is -- a big hotel much like other Radissons around the North -- but for me it was too impersonal, typified by the windows that wouldn't open. Also, being in Norway (the "Saudi Arabia of the North"), prices were too high for my budget although the hotel was no more expensive and even less expensive in some cases than comparable hotels in Oslo. I was able easily to walk to most of Oslo's sites and the train station is actually in the same urban mall as the hotel entrance, so no complaints on that account. If you stay here, you will be comfortable but so far as having a grand experience, no, that's not what the Radisson Blu is about -- at least not on a tourist's budget.

Room Tip: Might as well go high. I was on the 16th floor I believe and the view over the harbor was grand.

We stayed here for three nights in Ocotober 2011. Nice Hotel with great veiws over the city on the higher floors. The service was great. The room, a business class room was a bit small but good none the less. The bathroom had heated floor and the room had all that one need. The view from the room was great. Breakfast was a bit crowded on the weekend days when everybody goes for a late breakfast. breakfast it self was fine. the bar and restaurants are also fine. the hotel is pricy like everything in Norway. Location is good, near all the central places and sights. Overall worth to return to.

Room Tip: go for high floor
