“Easy for station.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2009

Good Points:-
- Next to station so good for airport connextion.
- Has OK gym and lap-pool.
- Rooms are clean and decent
- Free wi-fi
- Easy to walk to attractions.

Could be better
- Pool looks its age and having to walk up and down ricketty staircase isn't great. No lockers in changing room.
- Although its only a 10 minute walk to the central shopping its not at the heart. We didn't go out late in the evening so didn't see any problems as reported by others (e.g. drug-users). I was with a Swede who uses the hotel regularly and he said he's never had a problem.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while in Oslo for business. The hotel was booked via my company's travelling agency and paid for up front. When checking out the amount was charged against my credit card despite already being paid by the agency. The same thing happened to one of my colleagues and a third colleague managed to stop the transaction just before the same thing happened to her (note we checked out at different desks and at different times).
When I later returned after some meetings I asked the staff at reception to confirm that my card had been refunded. I was then told that the refund would take 5-7 days (ok, that is normal for credit cards), what I find slightly concerning though is that I was also told that these things happens every day..'with 500 guests to check out it's normal'..

This leaves me with 2 questions;
The issue has clearly been identified -why the relaxed attitude from Radisson's staff, surely something that is known can also be prevented??
Is this a way to cash in on interest from your guests?

An apology and a slight expression of concern would at least have been expected from a hotel like Radisson SAS, or?

The hotel is just next to the bus station, so it would be a good choice if you need to take bus easily. It'll take quite a 10 minutes walk to the town centre. The front office staff is not efficient and not friendly and it always have a long queue there. The worst is we asked for the concierge for umbrella since it's rainy day during my stay at this hotel. The staff answered me rudely that all the umbrellas were out and they just couldn't store several hundred umbrellas for the use of each guest. Definitely, I will not go back to this hotel.

Stayed two nights at this conveniently located hotel. Very easy to get to from the airport via train, walkable from the train station. However, I echo the comments of another reviewer. This hotel is not situated in a salubrious part of town. You have to negotiate down and outs, junkies and drunks en route to anywhere. Also, in the evening there are a number of prostitutes milling about outside the main entrance. I don't want to come across as a prude but it wasn't what I expected.
The rooms were very small and the wet room system for the shower just flooded the tiny bathroom. Beds were comfortable and a problem with bedding was sorted out straightaway.Breakfast was large and could be a bit manic at peak times but it was all substantial and tasty.
The hotel is ideally situated for sight seeing. The Opera House is close by and walkable. Also, the town centre is easily accessed on foot. Main shopping centre is just opposite the train station.
i would stay here again but doubt I ever will as Oslo is incredibly expensive.

The hotel is right next to the train and bus station, which is handy. However, it is not the best part of town. The rooms are straightforward - nothing out of the ordinary. The breakfast is large, but really multiple offerings of the same items, which gets old in a hurry. I was staying in early August when the temperatures were pushing 30. However, the hotel does not have air conditioning, which made it less than pleasant in the room. I am sorry, but you cannot be a 4-star hotel and not have air conditioning - period.

It would take too long to go through all the shortcomings of this hotel but i can only suggest that you find an alternative. There is nobody to help you with your luggage on arrival, you have to queue for ages to check in and check out, the rooms are dirty and appallingly designed etc. etc. etc., the management must surely be sleeping (or drinking) all day and should certainly lose their jobs.

We visited Oslo for a weekend (fri-sun) end of July 2009.

Hotel was in very nice condition and facilities, gym and pool were good. The gym is lacking free weights but has good cardio equipment and sports a fantastic view from the 37th floor.

Checkin was very slow due to long lines. We spent the whole saturday sightseeing and when we returned to the hotel at around 4 PM our room hadn't been cleaned yet. We called the lobby about it and they said it would be taken care of before 6 PM, at 7 PM nothing had happened but we managed to take some fresh towels from a cart in the hallway.

Good high speed wifi internet for free.

Location is very good and central, close to everything although the immediate area (train station and heavy traffic) isn't fantastic. But walk 2 minutes and you're where you wan't to be.

Breakfast buffet was ok, nothing more. Also it was extremely crowded and noisy. I would still recommend the hotel but probably it's a nicer experience when it isn't fully booked.
