Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel
Ranked #41 of 102 Hotels in Oslo

Stayed at this hotel during a conference in Oslo, and I was very happy with the accomodation and service from the staff. The room was available even though I arrived before ten in the morning, and the staff was very helpful with providing me with a room according to my preferences. It was huge, even including a big terrace outside! Clean, no noise and the best shower ever (complete with glass doors to prevent water from spilling out onto the bathroom floor.
Excellent breakfast with very attentive staff making sure you had everything you needed. I must say this was right up there with Grand Hotel and even Rica Nidelven in Trondheim; excellent!
Conference facilities where also excellent, allthough the 400 delegates managed to crash it pretty quickly (which always happens).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace if the weather is nice and you intend to spend some time at your room.

My room was a small room on the sixth floor (605). Worn down carpeted floors, broken tiles in the bathroom and everything hung crooked on the walls. It also smelled molds and the tv wasn't working. For the price of 1800 NOK it was a robbery. The breakfast room has a kind of retro style and was quite cool. A also give kudos for the retro phone at the bathroom My advice - don't stay there.

Located at walking distance from the major attractions including the castle (Akershus Fortress), waterfront, shopping areas, restaurants, museums, parliament and esp the train station it was convenient place to stay + it was a pick up point for the bus to the airport.
The room was clean and gave a good view of the city.
However that's where the good part ended. The en-suite toilet basin was blocked; with the water seeping slowly; on complaining....nothing happened nor was the staff apologetic ! We had to make do with it only.
The morning breakfast too was boring and the staff were usually busy chatting loudly amongst themselves.
We had stayed here as our experience in Helsinki was great with this chain of hotels. In future I'll have to rethink on the options.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and check the toilet before settling in !

We recently returned from a trip with GATE 1 Travel to Norway. The first hotel we stayed in, the Radisson Blue Scandinavia really set the tone of the entire trip. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the breakfast buffet was amazing - the array of food and the quality was unbeatable.
We have taken 7 trips with Gate 1 Travel and have yet to be disappointed with any aspects of our trips. From the guides, to the itinerary and the hotels, such as the Radisson Blu, we have always enjoyed traveling using Gate 1 travel. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality travel with afforable prices.

First, make sure you pick the right Radisson Blu - there are two in Olso. The Scandinavia Hotel is located near the castle but away from the heart of downtown - there were almost no decent places to eat within walking distance. The room I stayed in was fine with plenty of room but appeared to a bit tired. Lights didn't always work, the iron was built in the 1950s, and the carpet had seen better days. Still, the staff was fantastic and the amenities were great, making up for any issues.

Positive
Friendly and helpful staff
Good breakfast with lots of variety
Easy transportation to the airport
Decent sized room and fairly comfortable bed
Clean

Negative
Curiously, the sheets did not come close to fitting the bed
Oslo is a terrific city so there is no bad location but it was a fair walk to dining options

We stayed here 4 nights from 30th September until the 2nd October 2013. It was very clean and the people were very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very plenty of choices in both hot and cold meals. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was very nice, the food and service was very good, but as with everything in Norway, very expensive. The hotel location is great as the bus stop is outside the door and an easy walk to the harbor/fjord. From reading other reviews there must be 2 standards at this hotel, it seems if you take the bargain rate you get the small room but if you take a better room you get a decent room. I always take the better room and pay for it in advance, this generally brings it back to the bargain rate. I would rate this hotel with 4 stars.
We also ate across the road at an Italian restaurant which also was good and reasonable price. I would give a review but I cannot find it in TripAdvisor. It has the name "Holbergs Plass Restaurant" outside but not here.

Room Tip: Just take a better room than the cheap one advertised.
