In spite of the great location and the friendly day-time staff, we had a miserable stay here because of the heat and it being a weekend. There is no air conditioning and we therefore had to spend our two nights with the windows open unto the "courtyard." After multiple phone calls to reception to quiet down the 13-year old football team and their girlfriends (they were leaning out the windows, yelling at each other from floor to floor and room to room from 10PM until 1AM), we were asked to locate the exact rooms and they would take care of it. We did so. They didn't. On the morning after the first night, reception told us that it had been taken care of for our second night, and we didn't need to find another hotel. However, the noise & lack of help was even worse the second night, with reception not even answering our phone calls. So at midnight my husband and I dressed, and went down together to talk about a room change. They courteously changed us to the front of the hotel in a gorgeous, spacious room. But because of the heat, we had to open the windows, and the trams, buses, motorcycles, and late-night revelers made even more noise than the kids! So we tramped back to our room. Breakfast with ALL THOSE KIDS and all the other guests was a nightmare of pigs-at-a-trough. It was so crowded. However, reception was very kind, giving us a voucher for a lunch/dinner and taking off 10% of the rate. If we'd just known that one block away was a comparable, quiet hotel with AC, we would have moved!

This hotel is well located as you can walk from your door to all the main sights. However, due to this poisition it is also quite noisy (due to traffic) as it has no double-glazing.
The breakfast is also very average and the hotel is not good value for money!

My husband & I stayed here on the recommendation of Rick Steves, our favorite traveling guru. The employees were polite & helpful to an extent. It was unusually hot in Oslo, so we had to keep our windows open because the hotel has no AC. Misery!! Our room faced a hideous courtyard which was no problem until a large group of middle school footballers and their hands-off chaperones descended on the hotel for our 2- night stay. It was a nightmare calling reception and getting little to no response for the shouting kids who kept us awake for hours. We were told to identify all the rooms. On the 2nd night we got no help so we got dressed and went down ourselves to reception. They moved us to a beautiful room facing the street. But because of no AC, the buses & the trams & the motorcycles & the late-night revelers kept us awake, too. We moved back to our original room. The next morning, they did reduce the rate 10% and gave us a free meal at their bland but decent restaurant. Speaking of which, the breakfasts were TOTAL CHAOS: too little space for too many, pushy people. If the weather is cool and you're not there for the weekend you may enjoy this place. But, buyer, beware. Caveat emptor!

Great hotel: in minutes you can walk to every place in the city centre. Clean, huge and bright room, with top-class breakfast. Definitely it worth any cent we paid.

We just had a great stay at the Bondeheimen in Oslo. The hotel is very well located a few minutes walk from the harbour and a few minutes walk from the pedestrain walk through downtown. We took the flybus from the airport and it stopped right in front of the hotel. The room we had was at the front of the hotel so we did have street noise. We got a fan from the front desk to muffle the sounds and it worked pretty well. The room was very clean and had a pretty large bathroom. The breakfast was amazing and the restaurant was totally Norweigan food.
