This hotel was the highlight of my Nordic trip. It is not billed as a luxury hotel, but it is to me on the luxurious side yet at a very reasonable prices. I arrived early at around midday and was allowed immediate access to my room (thank-you!). The room was a single economy room and yes it was small. Yet is was also beautifully furnished, comfortable and quiet. Its location right next to the train station is very convenient and it was also quiet despite the closeness to the station and the centre of town. Two very minor negatives: first, there is a large development going on next door - it is not noisy, it just spoils the outlook a little. Second, the central station area is a little seedy at night, so one just needs to be careful walking back to the hotel late in the evening, but as long as you go through the lighted areas you should be fine.
The staff are lovely, the breakfast superb, the room beautifully decorated (though small). Very reasonably priced around $140 US including breakfast ... in the centre of Oslo!
I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I had a single room overlooking the city - which was a lovely outlook. A view of the Opera house is...

We booked a superior room on the 10. floor for our one night visit. The room was one of 10 rooms on the top floor! The room had it's own name, Kullervo, that was kind of cool ;) It was nothing special about the interior, ordinary hotel room.. The bathroom was nice, clean and big!
The breakfast was really good! A lot to choose from! But the american pancakes could be more american.. They tasted more like french crepe.. But who cares.. We were in Norway, and the norwegian food tasted great!!
Before we booked, we read a lot about the lousy service at the Opera.. We only encountered helpful, nice and serviceminded staff!
All in all, a good stay :)

This is a fairly new hotel and it shows. The room is nice and clean without the wear of older hotels.

Nice staff, and a really great breakfast.

Location is great, close to downtown, opera house and transport to the airport.

I've stayed Here twice on business and it really is a great hotel. I normally chose to take the last flight from London so in this case arriving late in Oslo. This hotel is right opposite the Station with a fast direct link to the Airport, very help full when all you want to do is crash after a long day. Breakfast is a real treat with great views over the Fjord and Opera House. The foot is plentiful and must cater for every taste.
The rooms are not spacious but are perfectly comfortable. The internet is very fast and works well in all public areas.
There are plenty of seats and tables scattered around the lobby for meetings and the business centre is very well run and has good facilities. And Oslo is a lovely city.

Room Tip: Pick a twin if you want more space

Modern and very centrally situated, only yards from rail station (including airport train), taxis, shops and public transport. Easy access to ferries to the museum area.
Tea/coffee making kit and toiletries in rooms.
High quality food, especially at breakfast. Lots of healthy options and a real attempt to cater for special diets, including vegan, gluten-free, organic foods etc.

Stayed there for 3 nights. Location is great: next to the train station and the new opera house, great neighborhood, perfect access to subway, tram, buses, etc. NOT noisy at all.
The room was very good, comfortable, clean, quiet (pillows were too soft, no other choices available.) Breakfast was terrific: the restaurant is beautiful the quality and variety of food was superb.
Only one complain: in Norway many hotels have limited or no double/queen/king beds (mostly as standards) and when I asked them to do something about it they said they had to wait until tomorrow because housekeeping was gone...at 8 pm!
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a bed clip when you make a reservation or the day before getting there

On arriving at the Ton Hotel Opera I was advised there was no boking for me.... thank you Booking.com who are not sent through my confirmation. Thank goodness I had a paper copy of the confirmation and after some tooing and froing and frantic calls to Booking.com Thon got them to send through the confirmation... room sorted!

The reception of the Thon Opera is plush and quality looking, so one could expect that he modern décor would be reflected in the bedrooms too... unfortunately this is not the case. The rooms are basic and dated. They are clean and comfortable but nevertheless it feels as though you are in two different hotels... the 'flow' is totally out of sync!

My room had 2 single beds and requesting a room change to one with a single bed was unsuccessful as they were 'fully booked'! No problem.. the room was clean, beds comfortable and the shower had good pressure... what more could you want?

The staff at thon Hotel Opera are efficient, courteous and friendly.

The food is the restaurant is of a high standard and certainly well worth a try. Staff hover without you noticing (great!) and portion sizes are just perfect! The window view is that of the ocean and the Opera House (the latter of which the residents are highly proud of and certainly worth a visit) and ... stunning!

The salad with scampi is devine... the scampi s actually 3 super-kingsize prawns. The salmon ever so fresh, the steak... tender and the puddings... well the chocolate fondant is to die for and the baked Alaska great if you have lots of time!

If you plan on staying here be aware that a new library is bring built so the view on the lower floors may be affected.

The Central Station is a 2 minute walk and there are lots of taxis outside the station. The express airport train stops here as well. It's easy to navigate the city from this hotel.

I would re-visit the restaurant but will look for a hotel with more modern rooms next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor (6 and above)
