“Mediocre at best”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Even though some of the rooms are being refurbished the hotel charges full price also for older rooms that are very worn down. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is nice, but that doesn't make up for paying full price for rooms that are mediocre at best. At this price range there are several other hotels nearby that give you much better value for your money.

The hotel is located close to bars restaurants and the nation theatre.

It was also well positioned for getting the number 31 bus to work just a 5 minute walk from hotel through the palace gardens.

Room fairly standard but adequate for what I needed. Breakfast is very good and a highlight.

Would have like to give 3.5 out of 5.

This Thon facility is under renovation and truly needs it. Every room has a kitchenette which can be very useful for budget travelers worried about Oslo prices for eating out. The breakfast buffet was large and filing.
My room had a new bathroom unit, which was very nice, but the shampoo and other hygiene products were not replenished during my stay. Reception was staffed with kids who were a little short on languages, but who did manage to sell me a Pepsi at 47,- Norwegian kr. - a price which would buy you a bit more in every other country on the planet.
I wouldn't have stayed here if I hadn't been urged to do so by the business I was there to take care of. The proximity to Kunstnernes Hus was a distinct benefit, but next time it's back to Radisson for me

Hotel is badly in need of renovations. Very worn carpets, walls in need of paint, conference rooms with cigarette burns on the tables. Some rooms have been renovated but when you check in, they still try to stick you in one of their old rooms. Then wait for you to complain before offering you a new one. Stay away!

Booked a family room and got a nice big room. Kitchenette, separate section for two of the beds (convenient when you have small children) and large living area with dining table. But the bathroom was disappointingly small, barely room to turn around, and certainly no place to change a diaper on the baby, and it had a cold draft. The sofa bed was ok for a small child, but for older children and adults the coil springs were too obvious, they cut into the body and it was impossible to relax. The breakfast room was nice and large, and breakfast had a very good selection, including smoothie, something our child appreciated. Overall, a nice, quiet hotel with a good location close to the castle and center.

The hotel as a total was very nice with a great looking breakfast and dining room, and the breakfast tasted as good as it looked. Had one of the better hotelgyms Ive seen in Oslo, and the receptionists was very kind. Not to far away from Karl Johan (the walking street) and the Castle is right next door. Bathroom was a bit small.

It is a nice and clean place. The reception staff are extremely friendly. The breakfast buffet is nothing special but OK. The only negative thing was the room service. When we arrived there was no coffee cups in our room. This was all quickly solved by the staff in the reception. However, the next day we did not get any re-fill on the coffee powder. One day we were in our room when the maid knocked and went in. Ordinarily they would excuse themselves and come back later, right? Not this one, she just started her routine in the same way she would if we were not there....!
