I spent two nights here when visiting Oslo, and was greatly impressed. My room was a bit small, but who cares? The hotel is a two minute walk from Oslo Central Station and had one of the best breakfasts I have ever seen in a hotel. One my checkout day, I had an early bus to catch and the front desk person let me go into the breakfast area a half hour before officially opening, so I could have something to eat. I'd happily stay here again.

Also, worth noting that this was an excellent value. My two nights here in Oslo cost less than a single night at a P-Hotel in Bergen. Greatly impressed.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the hotel was in an excellent position. Rooms were clean and comfortable - the only downside being lack of air-con on hot July evenings. The best part though, were the fantastic breakfasts, masses of choice and excellent quality.

In a very expensive Oslo, this hotel offers a good value accommodations in the center of the city. Nearby is the central train station, Akershus Fortress and shopping district Aker Brygge. Our room included simple furnishings, a queen bed and a writing desk. Bathroom was small but adequate. Plentyful breakfast was included. The was no A/C so I had to
open the windows and put up with the noise outside.

This hotel is very basic. You know that when you book it and see the rates. So you know what you are getting. What you may not know is that the staff all REALLY tries to be helpful, the location is in a pretty quiet area (except for the disco music til 3 in the morning -- see below), but just a 5 minute walk from Central Train Station and around the corner from Karl Johann Gate, the breakfasts are way above the expectation for a hotel like this, the WiFi is completely reliable and very fast, and the rooms are immaculate and very quiet. So you can't complain about the spare and small lobby, the sparse (but adequate) furnishings in the room, etc. I am normally very demanding of hotels when I stay for business. I tried to save some money on this booking since Oslo is so expensive. I was not let down. Don't judge this place by standards it can't achieve. In my experience, it was a lot of value for the money. One MAJOR problem: there is a disco nearby that has music outdoors until 3 in the morning some nights. Everyone in the neighborhood is bothered by this. I would inquire if this is still a problem before I book, since the music keeps EVERYONE awake.

Wow, Oslo is expensive especially if you are converting USD. But the Thon Astoria is a really good deal for the travel budget. It is also perfectly located for the train station and city centre, lots of shops and restaurants nearby; nice area. Free wifi and good breakfast also included. All in all a smart choice.

The hotel is a no frills budget hotel. It is very expensive for what you get, but so is every other hotel in Oslo. It is very close to the train / bus station and heart of the city. The room has bunk beds that fold out from the wall and one double bed. It has a big breakfeast buffet. If you are not looking for luxuary and want to spend your money on sights instead of a place to sleep, and want to be around people from everywhere and not just from the USA, then this is your kind of place. I lowered my rating to average because of the high cost of hotels in Oslo.

Room Tip: If you stay here, take the train from the airport to the city center. It is a short walk to the hote...

Stayed here for one night before heading to the airport the following morning. Didn't have the breakfast included. The room was fine, like a hostel really but clean enough. There was a lovely Indian restaurant beside this hotel which made it worth while. The hotel is also v close to the bus / train station which is why I booked it in the first place.
