Renovations ongoing for months, no bar and downstairs renovations until March. Rooms refurbished BUT furniture and design is minimalist and reminds you of a cheap budget hotel for a one night stay over. There is a rail for hanging clothes, no wardrobe no suitable shelves or place to put things, desk small, lighting poor, nowhere to stand your case. Based on the room design I would rate 2* only.

Otherwise, the staff are fantastic and the only reason to stay here. Even a good laugh with them at all the things that go wrong every time you stay here. Room keys don't always work, left a kettle in room but no cups and no coffee or tea or spoon. Attended to this and corrected but then no spoon and no sugar ! This is just one example of the quaint and funny atmosphere created here. Every time I stayed here something missing, something not working, something goes wrong ! To be fair mostly minor things, part of the charm of a budget hotel. For some unknown reason (staff) I still stay here.

Dear Peter!

Thank you for you review, it is very hard reading for us as we struggle every day to do our very best for our guests. Thanks alot for cheering our staff, we are very greatful about this as I understand you are fed up with our mistakes.

Renovation has taken a while, and we are sorry for all inconvenice our guests has suffered. When this said, our scores at total guest satisfaction, service and cleanliness has increased in this period.

Then to the rooms:
We have lifted the practical parts of the room design to a higher level, and agreed that we will improve the wardrobe as many guests have metioned this. Many rooms have a larger desk, and all rooms have sufficient lights after the last installation. Most rooms have a stand for the suitcase.

The design itself we are proud of and have got a lot of good comments about, however we strongly agree about the practical issues you give us feedback about.

Your feedback has become a big issue for us as i can feel it strongly in my stomach when you say that something always goes wrong. Im very sorry.

This hotel has been refurbished recently. The new rooms are badly designed and have been poorly implemented. The rooms have no storage space, just a rail for hanging shirts, and nowhere to put a bag except on the floor. The bathroom has nowhere to put your toiletries and other things. The mirrors are not useful as the lights are positioned behind your head making it difficult to shave. Some of the rooms have mirrors but they are ill-positioned. Some rooms do not have adequate lighting and some rooms are very cold.

The refurbishment was meant to have been finished (after 8 months) by 1st January but it will be 1st March at least. The bar and the restaurant are being refurbished.

Hi.

Thank you for you review. Im very sorry about your disappointment of our new rooms, and the time that it has taken.

Our refurbishment is a very big project, with the goal to become a very nice Hotel. We are nearly there. It takes time, sadly a bit more than expected. In a few weeks from now our ground floor will be finished and we are getting ready to open up with our new F&B concept. Most of our guests are satisfied with the development, but I have to agree with you in many of your points - we will also work to improve on those:

Cold rooms: This has been solved.
Mirrors: This is a problem at 35 out of 226 rooms. These mirrors will be changed within a few weeks.
Toiletries: Many rooms have good space for this, but I full agree that quite some has way to little space, we will install extra space.
Storage space: We are working to find a solution for a number of rooms. Most people that travel 1-2 nights is happy about the rail. Although I fully agree that many of our guests need more than this.

Many of our guests has complimented the design of the rooms, although we will work hard to improve the facilities that you have mentioned here.

Checked in on Monday for 5 days and on appearance seemed ok, firstly, I was lucky to get a newly renovated room on the 6th floor, my colleagues who did not stayed on a construction site it seemed.
The room itself are clean, although no heating in Dec, I asked for 3 days as my room was freezing when I was told they would Provide a heater, really if they switched on central heating this would Not be an issue. Second room issue, is the bath to ceiling height, am female & 5ft 9 and when having shower my head is an inch from ceiling so when washing my hair I keep banging hands or have to kneel down. Most men would touch the ceiling.
Also, no wardrobe in rooms so need to live out suitcase, not great when you have suits & shirts.
No minibar, water or iron in room....
As to service, reception was fine but I found restaurant rude. We were not informed we had to book in for lunch and had used it on day 2 however when we went the next day at 12.05, we were rudely sent away and told you must book.... After complaint to management, they manage to find space for half of us.
Internet is free and works well.
Location of hotel is good near the waterfront and 15min walk to the centre.

Thank for your review. First of all om very sorry that we didnt manged to meet your needs. Most of them we easily should have.

* Conferencelunches must normally be prebooked, but as you say, of course we find a space -a nd there was lots of food. We will not let it happen again, that we tell guests that we cant help them. Thank you for noticing the good location and our clean rooms.

* Sorry to say, most hotels in Norway dont provide complimentary water, im used to it from abroad as well.

* we have 60 superiorrooms with minibar

* Im very sorry we didn bring a heater! Due to renovation there was a problem with central heating in the period.

* im 6,5 and realized the issue with the shower, although I could handle it ok, it wasnt a good solution for me either, we are sorry.

* The wardrobe facilities in our new rooms is definitily a problem we are looking into for guests that stay for more than two nights.

Hopefully you will try us again, the hotel is now fully refurbished!

In amenities this hotel is not the best, despite the recient renovation....

However the staff more than make up for this , they are very atentitive and make the experiance great .

The food is basic but good, the fish soup is awesoem for example.

This is a good hotel good rooms and nice wooden flooring the rebferb is working well and if u get placed in a old room they move you free the breakfast is good and staff great just ashame is a bit noisy during refer but it ain't to bad I would recommend this hotel

This hotel really benefits through its location, so close to a couple of the best bars and a 5 min walk to the waterfront and the Aker Brygge. It's clean, functional, the rooms are small, but the reception really helpful, and best of all, a decent breakfast, which can keep you going for the best part of the day!

Room Tip: It's not a 'room with a view' kind of place. We only stayed one night, and it served it...

Great friendly and warm welcome in the reception and elsewhere. The staff was smiling, friendly and attentive - all of them.

Good looking room (recently renovated) on the 4th floor. A bit small, but I guess we got what we booked. The furniture was smart and functional, though. The breakfast was also good, had a nice atmosphere, and generally all you need from a fresh selection.

The bad thing, and the reason I can't give 5 stars; the internet. Unfortunately not usable for me. I tried to connect with a MacBook, but it timed out all the time. Only once was I able to connect, that however lasted very short. The solution for me was the 4G / LTE network in the area.

I did mention the Internet problem to the staff, and albeit being friendly and trying to help, there was not much that could be done.

Location wise it is also good, with just a short walk from central Oslo and the Slottsparken (the Castle). Just around the corner (literally) you will find the US embassy in Oslo.
