Clean place, rooms on the small side but then again we're not really in to be bothered about it. We really like the breakfast which is excellent quality, and we have manages to walk anywhere we wanted in town without being in a busy neighbourhood.

Thon Hotel Munch is a fantastic hotel! Clean rooms, crisp linens, wonderful shower, large flat screen t.v., reading lights, small desk. Very good use of space and the beds are very comfortable as well. The hotel was redone two years ago and it shows. The dining area is very stylish and modern. The front desk staff is excellent. Extremely helpful and very friendly.

The breakfast buffet is superlative -- they have everything and then some. The freshest fruit, salad fixings, every kind of bread, hot food, a variety of meats and cheeses, cereals, yogurts, etc. The quality of the food is top notch and the coffee is delicious as well.

The food service staff is wonderful and helpful--hello, Marius and Justyna! For a small fee you can take food away which is wonderful in this very expensive city.

It's a ten minute walk to the train station with many cafés and restaurants nearby so you don't need a cab in the city. Finally, we were able to get a web deal so we got a fantastic rate.

I give Thon hotel munch my highest recommendation.

Room Tip: Our room was on the fifth floor since we had a family room which was very quiet and just perfect. I hear the rooms on top with a balcony are wonderful.

The hotel is well located within walking distance from the Opera house train station, which is one of the stops of the airport express train so it is very easy to get there. It is located in the city center so I didn't have the need to take public transport. Overall, the hotel is clean and comfortable. It was a good choice.

We stayed two nights in this budget hotel conveniently located in walking distance to most of the places of interest in Oslo. Our room was absolutely okay, i.e. clean, modern and as spacious as a budget hotel room can be. Breakfast was rich but not particularly remarkable. Moreover, during breakfast rush hour some noise can be heard in the rooms located above the breakfast room, which was unfortunately ours (floor 3). All in all, I would rate Thon Hotel Munch with 3.5 stars and would probably come back for another short stay though not above the breakfast room.

A friend and I spent 6 days in Oslo's Thon Hotel Munch, two days at the beginning of our two-week trip and four days at the end. At first, the twin room seemed small, but after being in a few other hotels in Norway and returning to this hotel, it seemed larger. I loved the hotel, mainly because we were able to get a room with a balcony. Sleeping under the cool breeze the last weeks of May was fabulous!

The receptionists were courteous, happy, and very helpful with our questions for directions to the nearest tram and to a restaurant that was open on Sunday night.

The breakfast was fabulous, the breakfast stockers were courteous and friendly. Note: there is an overflow room, should the main eating room be full.

The location was not bad, considering there is a tram 3-4 blocks away (#17 and 18, I believe, that will take you to the train station), and the subway (Storingate) about 6 blocks away. After becoming familiar with the area, the location seemed great, especially for the price we paid for the twin room the last of May.

A couple of tips: we did not notice that we should be locking our door with the key card, until almost the last day--the door does not automatically lock when you leave. All electricity turns on by inserting the key card in the slot near the door -- do your roommate a favor and leave the key card in place in the slot and turn the lights off manually upon going to bed. (I found myself searching for my key card in the dark so I could see in the bathroom in the middle of the night.).

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are the same price as the others. Ask if you want one (and keep your fingers crossed -- there are not many to be had).
