Nice welcome , people have mile when welcoming you .
At noon , rooms are not ready , and you got to wait .
Reception gives a map of the city and informs you about the best places to see .
Unfortunately, rooms are not the same standard .
Very small , old decoration, and very very cold though I have been trying to put some ore heat ... Really freezing in the morning . Size does not match the standard required for a four star hotels and even less for a leading hotel of the world hotel .
Poor service in room, not even a bottle of water , nothing to prepare a coffe o tea .
Definitly, other hotels in Oslo are higher quality than this one ...

The hotels in Norway are not rated. I'm staying in Oslo and from my research the only 2 hotels near to a 5 star rating is The Grand Hotel & The Hotel Continental. My advice is to stay at the Grand Hotel. I checked into the Hotel Continental, a Junior Suite, quite pricey and it was very small. When i saw the breakfast buffet, I was disappointed. Hardly nothing to choose from! I booked in for 2 nights and asked for a refund due to me being unhappy with my room and the breakfast, they would not oblige. Some of their staff also have an attitude. I checked out and checked into the Grand Hotel, same price as The Continental. At The Grand Hotel my Junior Suite was 3 times bigger, the breakfast was like a five star breakfast, a lot to choose from and they also have fantastic Spa Facilities. My advise, is stay at the Grand Hotel, same price and better by miles!

Room Tip: Go to the Grand Hotel!

With a lobby that is classy and open, you can meet for tea, or just sit and read.
I really like this hotel. The rooms and halls have a air about them, that are better then the other big central hotels, and the ambiance is sort of boutique like. It sits just across from the National Theatre and has the Theatren Cafe attacted to it. That restaurant has very authentic Norwegian dishes done very well. I would say, about the best in town. It has giant arches and a beautiful setting.
It just feels good in this hotel.
I have not stayed there, but have had meetings in the lobby, eaten dozens of times in the restaurant, and have visited the rooms of friends who have stayed there.

This is apparently the only five star hotel in Oslo. The building itself is quite old and they tried to keep decoration in an old fashion way resembling half a century ago which is nice. The highlight of my stay was the service . Every staff in this hotel is well oriented toward guest hospitality. Really wonderful ! The location is very good, being close to shops, good restaurants, some attractions and a metro station. The breakfast was complete and delicious, here again the staff were quite attentive and really care taking. The room was of average size with good amenities and a rather medium to small sized bathroom. Free WIFI is a big plus here. Overall was a nice experience and will recommend.

The hotel location is perfect: very central, on Stortingsgata, opposite the National Theatre and a stone's throw from the Royal Palace. The staff were very professional and the receptionist who checked me in was very efficient. My room had a very nice view over the theatre and the square, and Molton Brown toiletries, which are just fine. The fact that wi-fi was free and high speed was also great. The room itself, however, was very dated and desperately needed a facelift - more for a 90-year old grandmother, than a single male in his thirties. It also needed better housekeeping: I had the displeasure of finding a lot of pubic hair stuck to the toilet seat, and by my desk there was a big fluff ball. The buffet breakfast was fine, with good variety. The fact it's a 5 star hotel, and there was no turn down service, was quite odd.

I celebrated my birhtday at Hotel Continental in September 2011 and enjoyed every moment of it. I was upgraded to a wonderful suite with large balcony, with views of Karl Johan Street and The National Theatre. Great location, just 1 min from airport train and harbour area. Best choice in central Oslo, if you can afford it. Search around and you should be able to get a double room for less than 250 USD any time of year. Cheaper during weekends.

We stayed here with our family in June of 2011. This is a great, central location if you are staying in Oslo. It is just a few blocks from the waterfront area where you can catch the ferry to the Brygge area or eat at any number of neat locations. And the subway line is just across the street.

The lobby is classic; relaxing and beautiful. We found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. The rooms were spacious, and there were a few options available that made the stay especially convenient for our family. Everything was clean too.

The breakfast was typical for higher-end hotels in Norway and Sweden - excellent!

Room Tip: Ask for what you need. They have it all at this place.
