Very well located in the center of Oslo. We had a very nice beautiful room (a Superior or deluxe, I forgot) so large enough and very comfortable. Very good breakfast and very nice staff at the reception, very helpful.

This Hotel is in a perfect location, downtown next to the train, bus and tram and also to the harbour. The rooms are clean and suitable to stay for a couple of days.
The breakfast buffet is marvellous wit a lot of fresh food like little steaks, mushrooms, then different hering salats.
Ask for an espresso and prepare a sandwich for lunch time as the prices here in Oslo are exorbitant high.
The tram for Holmenkollen leaves just right in front of the hotel.
To walk downtown takes a few minutes. On Saturday we found a nice restaurant with life Jazz musik while the girls went for some shopping.

This is actually one of my favorit hotels in Oslo. Centrally located. Speed train access to the airport one minute away. Great breakfast and the nicest breakfast room of Oslo. Great restaurant attached but expensive. The hotel is a historical place in Oslo, people meeting up for a drink in the bar or restaurant before going to the Theatre across the street. Very different type of rooms. Lower prices rooms are small and date. I stayed here 3 times before, every time a different experience due to the different type of rooms. Would I stay again? Depending on the rooms rate and actual room at the time, yes. Otherwise, there are good alternatives across Oslo. As much as I like the hotel for different reasons, I wonder why it belongs to the LHW/SLH Network.

Excellent location. Got upgraded to a premium room on the 8th floor which was nice. Heated floor in the bathroom was a nice touch! All a bit old and slightly formal but in a comfortable sort of way but clean and polished. Breakfast was ok but nothing special - Norwegian coffee is dreadful!

I was disappointed at this hotel. Having been told by my travel agent that this was the only 5 star hotel in Oslo, I had high expectations, which were dashed. Reception was friendly and helpful, but delays could build up, as the area is not very large and it is busy hotel. The bedroom and en-suite shower room were small and of average standard, but in no way luxurious as you might expect in a 5 star hotel. There was no courtesy tray, as was offered in some other hotels in Norway. Everything was clean and well maintained. I had dinner in their Theatercafeen, and the food was very good, but the service not as good as one would have expected for a such a highly acclaimed restaurant, and the prices charged. Breakfast, which was included in my room rate, was good with a good selection and good service. On checking out I paid by cash, but then when I got home, found that I had been charged on my credit card as well (it was swiped on checking in, as is usual). They duly credited my credit card when I sent an E-mail complaining, but I still lost out as I was charged international transaction charges on my card for both the debit and credit transactions. If visiting Oslo, give this hotel a miss, as there are much better ones, even though they are rated at a lower star rating.

Having stayed at the Continental before I am aware there are two very different types of room, the contemporary styled rooms and the "classic"!

This stay I was allocated a "classic" styled room, classic basically means that the room has not been decorated since about 1985! Everything in the room including the radiator is painted a ghastly yellow colour!

The bathroom was dated, old and tired and human pubic hair on the floor is not a great thing for any hotel let alone an alleged five star place!

The room was small and lacked basic guest facilities such as tea and coffee making facilities meaning that the only way you could get a hot drink was to either use the grossly over priced room service or the equally overpriced lobby bar.

Basically all the rooms should be up to the same high standard of the contemporary rooms, these "classic" rooms are nasty and the hotel really need to ditch these.

The service however is this hotel's plus point but its easy to see why there are 19 other hotels ahead of this place in Oslo. The price is laughable too - way too expensive for this type of quality.

Would I recommend this to a friend? In short I'm disappointed to say no.

Room Tip: Insist on a contemporary room, don't stay here if none available.

I stayed there on a 1 week business trip and it was comfortable but certain things reveal the age of the place. I don't dig the red corridor carpets...looks tacky. Also the room doors open into the corridor and not into the room; that was weird. Thermostat seems to be stuck and opening the window to let he cool air in was not an option, without sacrificing for mouse and privacy. Breakfast was ok, but was identical everyday. Interesting serving was the toothpaste caviar and pickled herring.

What the hotel has in its favour is location, location. Also if you are choosing that hotel, ask for a room with hardwood floor, not a carpeted floor. Room decor is a bit modern, but it's age goes it away once you step junto the bathroom or the corridor.
