“Very good stay!”
Reviewed 27 November 2011

Arrived at 2 pm and wanted to check inn. Was promptly told that it was not possible to check inn before 3 pm. Disappointing, but at least the hotel has a nice lounge and free internet and I also ordered a beer while waiting so an hour went quick.
The hotel is great located with a marvelous view over Oslo and the Oslofjord. It's also neighbor to Holmenkollen skijump and ski-arena.
The hotel has a long history and is an icon in Oslo with the oldest part looking like its straigth out of a fairytale. The oldest part is housing a restaurant and meetingrooms and all the hotelrooms are located in two new wings. We got a room toward the backside with no view, but the room was great. Modern, fresh and clean with a 32" lcd tv and a nice stone wall.
The breakfast was very nice, buffet-style with a cook making eggs any style on demand.
All in all a good experience, but due to the unnecessary strict check-inn/out policy I will not rate it as exellent. No check-inn before 3pm and 100nkr pr hour for late check-out is to strict.

The hotel is located on a hill just in front of the jump tower so it has an excellent view and the building itself is very beatiful both inside and outside. The rooms are of a good size and has a modern feel.We tried the xmas buffet and the selection was good, lots of hot and cold dishes and Norwegian specialities, but it was quite expensive and the food was just ok. The breakfast is good, also a wide range of choices and they have an omelette chef. The large dining area is nice with views to a stone wall with a waterfall. They also have a smaller restaurant where we had lunch the next day and the lunch buffet was fantastic, much better than the dinner. There was a disco and the nightclub is donwstairs, which is good since we didnt disturb anyone. The staff was nice and helpful. The location is quite remote so you need a car if you are staying here a couple of nights in order to get around Oslo.

Holmenkollen Park is a very interesting hotel due to the fact that it's been built in several stages, and each part is very influenced by its time. The oldest part of the hotel, a one-time tuberculosis sanatorium looks like something out of a fairytale, and now houses restaurants.
The main part of the building is obviously built/redone in the 80s/90s, and somehow manages to seem pretty in keeping with the ideals of the time, without feeling too dated. The new wing is pretty much run of the mill for a new hotel.

A lot of the appeal of this place is the view, and we were very unlucky with the weather, it was so foggy that you could hardly see across the parking lot, but when the fog lifted, the view was amazing.

Our room was a suite in the main wing, which had a hallway, a living room, a bedroom, two bathrooms and a sauna. The room had obviously been decorated quite recently, except for the bathrooms, where the fixtures and fittings seemed older, but were still in order, and looked clean and presentable, and had L'Occitane toiletries.
The style of the suite was a combination of nordic and lounge style, and the room was spacious and comfortable, with panorama windows and balconies accessible from both main rooms. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and there was also a cofee maker and basic tea/coffee.

The hotel has a small pool in the basement, along with a jacuzzi, which was nice for relaxation, but the pool is a bit small for swimming laps.

The breakfast was nice, the quality of the food was good, and the selection was pretty much what you'd expect, nothing more or less.

All in all this was a very enjoyable stay, and I'd gladly stay there again. However you should be aware of the fact that the hotel is about 25 minutes from Oslo city center, it's relatively easily accessible by tram, but if you miss the last one, the taxi ride is expensive.

Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica are delighted once! I felt like he refined it, but situated so that guests can see the famous ski jump, as well as the maximum of the panorama of Oslo!I believe that this hotel is an excellent design (a combination of 2 times and 2-spirit, past and present of Norway), fine cuisine, restaurant, thanks to chefs! This hotel is suitable for guests with inquiries and for the lowly turists.staff courteous and knowledgeable.Twin Room spacious and comfortable, as well as at the very teplo.Chistaya bed, bath, hair dryer, a shampoo, shower gel, bath salt.At any time you can boil water in a room and make tea or coffee (which I think is important as well as an amateur travel)I visited Oslo for the first time and it was my first otel.I love the first look. For me, this hotel will remain a legend ...

Booked this hotel from the pictures - very Norwegian. Found it easily arriving by car - parking is expensive but you really don't have a choice unless you want to leave your car 200 yards down the road in an unlit car park. Room was comfortable, but no view in the new wing. Breakfast was great in the large dining room with the outside waterfall. Main problem is if you don't want to use your car, it is a good walk down to the railway station (if it is working - it was closed for repairs in July 2011) or bus which will take you to Majorstuen station and from there you can catch a train unless they stop them for some reason, but the buses are great with the drivers mostly very helpful. Staff very friendly at the hotel and very comfortable overall. Not convenient if you want to be closer to the city.

The hotel is located close to a popular hiking and cross-country ski area and in walking distance from Norway's main ski arena (cross-country and jump). From the hotel there is a scenic view of Oslo. If you are not very interesting in skiing you will probably find the place a little deserted. It is possible to take the metro downtown, but it is quite slow.

The was a lot of noice in the room, probably from some kind of air conditioning system so I did not get much sleep.
