OK so the hotel isn't in central Oslo- there is a metro stop quite nearby, but it is a relatively long train ride to the city centre- but that doesn't mean that it isn't perfectly located. The hotel is a beautiful building in the dragon style and has great views of Oslo. It is also literally right under the Holmenkollen ski jump, which is just a fantastic thing to see/experience. Also the train ride into the city is quite picturesque.

The staff is super friendly and helpful, even before we had checked in they helped us with suggestions of other places to stay in other parts of Norway we were planning on visiting. The breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic. For dinner they have a nice pizza place (proper Italian pizzas) which is a hit with the kids, but the buffet spread in the other restaurant is really, really good.

Out of the way if Oslo center is your destination and point of interest but a great option if you want to enjoy the view on the city anf fjord from above! The room (a jr suite) was fine with a comfortable bed and pleasant little terrace from wich to enjoy the view. I was somewhat surprised by the quite small and basic bathroom. This hotel has some resemblance with the Dolder Grand in Zurich with an old traditional building linked to a modern one. While not a luxury hotel per se the Rica is a fine 4 star hotel withba full breakfast choice and pleasant staff.

Perfect hotel for a good price. Excellent breakfeast and nice location next to the Holmenkollen ski area. Metro station on walking distance although a steep walk back. The train takes you in about 20 minutes to the city center.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a absolutely no view but might be a little cheaper. View over Oslo is only available...

We stayed here 2 nights after three weeks roadtrip in Europe.
A very friendly receptionist checked us in, we took an upgrade to a superior room to get a view of Oslo. We first got a room in the second floor but the view was covered with a three. But the receptionist gave us a new room in the 3. floor. This floor has excellent view of Oslo City and the Oslo fjord.
It is a big hotel was was upgraded for the World Championship so it has an old part, an almost new part and a new part. If you want the greatest room get an room in the newest part, here the view is of the Fjord only. But get an room in the almost new part if you want to see both Oslo and the Fjord.

The hotel also have a SPA with free pool and a yakuzzi in the basement, this was great to use, but had been even greater if its was located so we could get an view from the pool.

We tried the pizzarestaurant the first night. They made portion pizza. The pizza was OK, but a little tasteless even since i took the pizza that should have been the one with the best taste.

But overal it is a GREAT hotel that is located up in the hill above Oslo, if you want to relax this is perfect but you can also take the tram down to the city center.

Room Tip: Third floor in the almost new department for view of Oslo City and Oslo Fjord. In the newest part f...

From the hotel you can see the entire city of Oslo at your feet. The room was what you can expect on a 4 star hotel, with access to the pool and sauna included.
Breakfast is simply amazing. Definitely try the many fish options there.

The pool is on the small side and can get quite crowded in the evenings. But definitely worth a visit.

the downside would be that you need to take a metro or car to get to the center, and it takes about 20 minutes.

Also, parking at the hotel can cost you 20EUR per day. You are way better off by parking in front of the ski trampoline, where it is free if you can find the spot. In the summer the parking lot was mostly empty, so no problems there. The hotel staff did not mention this when we asked about parking options.

Very nice hotel, we had a nice spacious room. Great view from hotel over Oslo. Beware that 'standard rooms' don't have a view, you'll have to book a more expensive room then. Dinner in the restaurant was really good, for a decent price for Norwegian standards. By metro, you are in downtown within half an hour, which was fine for us.

Superb hotel, staff, room.... We were very pleased the way they treated us although we had 2 dogs with us.... You guys gave us the perfect ending of our vacation!!!
Located outside Oslo, it is very easy to go to the city center. You can go by car (15min) or public transport (nearby).
Large rooms, kingsize beds, superb bathroom/shower, big flatscreen tv, etc. Although we didn't stay often on our room, it made us feel "at home".....
