Owner description: Norsk Folkemuseum shows how people lived in Norway from 1500 to the present through its collections from around the country. Among the highlights are the Stave Church from Gol, dating from 1200 and an apartment building with homes from the 20th Century. 160 historic buildings in the big Open-Air Museum represent different regions in Norway, different time periods, as well as differences between town and country, and social classes. Indoor exhibits present Norwegian heritage. The museum has a comprehensive activity program and is open all year.
Useful Information: Activities for young children

Loved it! This open-air museum is very interesting in many, many ways! See traditional homes, people dressed in traditional clothes, a church built in 1200, and learn about the Sami people. Definitely worth the visit! And it's free with the Oslo Pass!

I arrived late the first day i went, so i had to make a second trip, my fault i should have checked opening hours. Yes it was worth going back. The indoor exhibits are excellent and the folk park is fantastic, you could spend a whole day here and enjoy every minute. This one would also duit young children. Make dure you visit.

Even though the museum was open when we visited, it was very quiet with lots of individual attractions being closed( around lunch time). The museum had nice workshops and booths in various fields. The cool old bank and the textile shop was very engaging. The must do in this museum is the wonderful stave church moved here. It was one of the most beautiful ones we saw in our Norway trip. Convenient but sparse buses link this attraction with the viking ship museum. To enjoy all the attractions on this island, plan a whole day in this area.
Overall this place is a must visit for those visiting Oslo.
Visiting Oslo and not seeing this place is like visiting NY/NJ once in your life and not visiting Ellis island for the statue of liberty!
