“The worst hotel in Oslo?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

Zero points on this one. Asked specifically for an early check in because of an early rise and flight so i needed a kip and was told (three times as if I was stupid that check in is at 3pm). Got a lower rate room that was ready and after two minutes the drilling begun. They were building a pyramid by the noise they were making. Asked for a different room and they said that there was no point because the driilling could be heard in all rooms of the hotel. Drilling is 10 to 4pm every day. This is one of the worst places in Europe. Very disappointed that booking.com did not report the works.

We stayed here twice while visiting Oslo on the same trip for 1 night each. You will be pretty much on your own in the hotel - it has very minimal levels of service and staff which is a great thing. Even then the rooms are very well maintained and extremely clean. The location is perfect as it is very close to the tram station and you can even walk to the Oslo Central Station which is the heart of all transport in Oslo. Places like Aker Brygge are about 15 minutes by tram. There are several convenience stores nearby and on the street parallel to Storgata there is the youngstorget square which has several nice cafes and bars.

If you are on a budget trip and do not want to live in a hostel then this is definitely your best bet!

Just stayed three nights to spend the 2014 new year eve. Anker Hotell is about 10-15 minutes walk from Oslo S. It is possible to take bus no. 30 & 31 or tram 13 from Oslo S for just two stops to the hotel. However, it is recommended to walk coz the public transport fee was really not cheap. It cost 30 Nok if you buy the ticket before boarding the bus at 7-11, or even cost 50 Nok if you buy direct from the driver on the bus!! It's an easy walk from the hotel to the city center or the harbor area.

Hotel check-in was smooth and fast. Staff was very nice and recommended us to go the Oslo harbor to join the new year eve firework celebration on Dec 31. Hotel room was not big but alright for us. There was not many choices for TV channel. Bathroom was clean with towel provided. Bed linen was smooth & clean but the mattress was a bit too soft for us.

Free buffet breakfast included was definitely a bonus, especially Oslo is an expensive city to stay. Free WIFI available but it was weak in our room. It was OK in public areas. Overall we had a pleasant stay at Anker Hotell.

The hotel is in a very good location, a short walk from the central bus/train/metro station. It is clean and very modern, the rooms are clean and warm, the bathrooms have heated floors, however there was no bath in our room. Our room had a great view over the city.
The staff were very friendly and professional. I found the breakfast excellent; there was a huge variety of foods,in fact there was enough food to make some sandwiches for lunch which helps in expensive Oslo.

Location's alright, staffs are helpful and polite, for what you have paid, I think this hotel is up to standard without doubt.

The rooms and their breakfast are alright... the only issue is their lifts are so small

Having looked at some of the reviews of this hotel I feel I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.
Its location from Oslo centre is 10 minutes flat walk,& there are trams almost outside the hotel door.
The hotel is very clean, nice new bathrooms & was very warm. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice with a 4 hour period for eating breakfast. Staff, though not over friendly, were pleasant & helpful. I would recommend this hotel, for Oslo its good value.

Rooms range from the good ones to the horrible ones. The bathroom is the worst, even the "best" one we got didn't have a divided shower area, making the whole bathroom all wet, if not the bedroom! We got no air conditioning, but at least we could open the window a little bit to allow some cold air to get in. Breakfast is kind of good, with a reasonable variety of options. The price was not good at all, but it's probably hard to find something good at a good price in Norway. The hotel is located about some 15 minutes walking distance from the central station, equivalent to 2 bus stops.
