The location is perfect for exploring Oslo. It's a 10 minute walk from Oslo central station if you take the express train. If you take the SAS bus from Gardemoen, the bus stop is right outside the hotel.

The lounge is comfortable, lots of chesterfield sofas and armchairs to sit on your own in groups. There is a pianist at certain times of the day. The rooms are nice, comfortable, clean and adequately sized. I put a note on my booking asking for a bathtub - and got it.

I had a double bed, but with two single duvets; as I has the bed to myself, I would have preferred a double duvet. there was a small table with two upholstered chairs in the room, a wardrobe (with shelves too) and an iron plus ironing board.

There was no kettle or any tea-making facilities in the room, nor was there are useable fridge. the only fridge was a mini-bar which would charge automatically if you moved anything.

Breakfast was included in my tariff, so I do not know the price. I do know, however, that it was a very good selection! There were cold meats, fish, cheeses, crudities. A selection of bread, cookies and pastries, waffles with All The Toppings and hot breakfast items on top of that. there were cards on the table that said if you needed anything else, ask the chef! Staff came round to pour coffee refills; that was a nice touch.

There were couple of areas where the hotel could improve. The gym/spa/wellbeing place is not accessible by lift (elevator). In order to get to the gym, you have to go to the third floor then take the stairs three floors down.

Some people might say taking the stairs to go exercise is no problem however, people with reduced mobility need there their exercise too! I suffer from chronic pain and after a couple of days of trying to use the gym, I gave up.

the gym itself was a disappointment too. it was a tiny space so all the machines are crammed together. There was a multi-use resistance machine that took up a lot of space but it was broken! The dumbbells were stowed in a corner and there was precious little floor space to do any free weights. The same went for the exercise mats, stored in another corner.

I would consider staying at Hotel Bristol again, for the location and the courteous staff but really, they need to fix the accessibility situation.

From the moment we stepped into the lovely lobby to check in and heard the pleasant music from the Library Bar, the atmosphere at the Bristol was welcoming. Our accommodations were excellent with lovely toiletries, robes and slippers; the buffet breakfast offered so many choices as to be almost overwhelming with eggs, meats, fish, cheeses, yoghurts, juices, pastries and heart shaped waffles among them; the staff was professional but friendly--among the best I have encountered in my travels. Although some others have commented about no dinner options at the Bristol, both the Grille and the Library Bar (which is more like a lounge) serve dinners and were willing to change some recipes to accommodate my vegetarian tastes. I had specifically requested a street facing room since I like to see the city from my window, and I did not experience the noise that some complained of, even on Saturday night. The location was central and I could walk most places. Hotel Bristol you more than lived up to my expectations, and I had a wonderful week in Oslo. (Stayed from 29 October to 5 November 2013).

We spent September 1-5 at Thon Hotel Bristol in Oslo. Hotel Bristol is a very conveniently located, well maintained, older property with an excellent staff. The breakfast offering was terrific and the staff prepared a breakfast bag for us for our early departure one morning to visit the fjords. It's a hotel that caters to the frequent business traveler and tourist alike and was very accessible to areas/sites of interest, whether walking or using the train.

Thon Hotel Bristol deserves a 5 star rating.

Great hotel in all respects. Great food, great atmosphere, nice room, comfortable bed, quiet and very good location. I would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Oslo. The price is marginally higher than the cheap hotels, but here you actually get good value for money. Not the regular rip off that you usually get in Norway, where we tend to over price everything.

Nice hotel, lobby is full of dark leather furniture really ornate feel. A pastry station is on one side.
Breakfast here was best we had all over Denmark and Norway. Service is in equally richly carved wood, old style elegance.
Room was first rate.
Bathroom has the high step over common all over Scandanavia but well done.

Room Tip: Street rooms have views

If you like charles dickens christmas stories, you found your spot to sleep. Chandeliers, brass ornaments, wood panneling, antiques, its all there....
In oriental classic style decorated hotel in centre of Oslo. All mayor attractions in walking distance.
Rooms are surprisingly comfortable and maintained. However the shower/bath room is a slam in your face. The L'Occitaine showergel, handwash and shampoo compromise this fact a very little bit.
Breakfast is extended, how ever its ikea style; which means take everything your self. You do not have to screw the table together but for the rest of it, you are busy scrambeling everything together. In a hotel like this, one would expect a higher level of service.

If you are going to this hotel, you are choosing atmosphere!

Room Tip: The cheepest rooms are not well decorated, go for the level above or higher.
