We stayed at Hotel Bristol for the night after our wedding, my wife stayed here the night before as well. Superb hotel, good breakfast.

We were upgraded to a corner suite, two room suite. Perfect for the ocation. Short walk to City Hall and the wedding. But also close to our party venue.

Was over all good service, polite front desk and wake up call worked as promissed at 4.30 am when we went to London.

This hotel is very convenient for the city centre and within short walking distance of most things and yet is on a relatively quiet street compared to some other hotels. We asked for a quiet room and we could not fault that. The room was a bit small but average for this type of hotel. The breakfast was excellent and staff very helpful.

This is a beautiful old hotel in a great location. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel is full of antiques and Norwegian artwork, and is warm and welcoming and quite tasteful. The restaurant is superb. The only drawback on the Friday and Saturday nights we were there was the raucous partying going on in the streets outside. The music and noise lasted until sometime around 0300, leading me to suggest an inside room. We would still return to the Bristol, but next time with earplugs.

Room Tip: Get a room off the street, or bring earplugs.

Dear Ralphalpha

Thank you for this wondefull review of Hotel Bristol. I am sorry to hear about the street noise that you experienced.

We would love for you to try one of our "quiet" rooms facing the courtyard during your next visit.

Welcome back to Hotel Bristol.

The reception was a quick efficient check in by friendly staff. Hotel is situated closeby citycenter and harbour. Room at the 5th floor had NO airconditioning. Window opening handle was broken of. A fan was offered by reception, but in fact it was an electricity to noise converter 20 cm by 30 cm square box. It didn't work at all.
Internet is free but very slow 2,5 mb/sec. Useless for videostreaming/skype etc.
Bathroom is not cosy but worn out and needs an update.
Well for one night it was resonable. I hope i sleep well in this warm room ; (

Dear Marc I

Thank you for commenting on your stay at Hotel Bristol. It was with great pleasure to read about your satisfaction with the location and our friendly staff.

Your comments regarding the room will be followed up by our maintenance manager. We have been experiencing unusual hot weather lately, and unforunately our central ventilation system has not been able to cover certain rooms in the building.

We would appreciate if you could send us the roomnumber where you experienced this problem, so we can investigate this further.

We hope to see you again at Hotel Bristol and I will personally see to your reservation.

Kind regards

The hotel has an old world charm to it and the lobby (Hambro's Cafe) had a buzz during tea time. Reception staff were courteous. There was no bellman when we arrived at 1PM but we preferred to roll our luggages to our room rather than wait.

Rooms are small (our twin room had 2 single beds!), our in-room safe didn't work, there's no complimentary water, you need to pay for TV and there's no coffee or tea-making facility. There is a minibar which cannot be used as a fridge as automatic sensors will automatically charge you for any drinks that are moved.

The bathroom is in stark contrast to the old world charm of the lobby and rooms. Tiles are white and cheap looking and sink table is made of resin. Reminded me of bathrooms in a hospital room. The water (as many previous guests pointed out) leaks through the gap between the tub and the glass divider, the L'occitane shampoo, body and hand wash are bolted in with metal restraints.

Avoid the 3rd floor rooms facing in as your view is some green canvas roof.

We'd try a different hotel on our next visit.

Dear Fatienza

Thank you for this constructive feedback. First off it was with great pleasure to read about your impressions of our corteous reception staff.

I am sorry to hear that the room did not meet your expectations. I would like to point out that there is no charge for watching TV and that we avoid bottled water as the tap water is pure and clean.

We would love for you to try one of our upgraded rooms during your next visit, where you will find more ammenities and larger space as well.

Thank you for staying at Hotel Bristol and hope to see you again soon.

Stayed for one night on a business trip when the rest of Oslo was sold out. Believed the trip advisor ratings so was able to book a room through an agent.

So 40 years ago this place would have been amazing. Today the bar and lounge area has the musty smell of decline. Seems the majority of clientele are bus loads of elderly tourists.

I assume that since I booked through an agent rather than directly, which wasn't cheap, I got a room facing into an internal courtyard. This in itself wouldn't have been a massive problem if the air conditioning worked or was vaguely effective. Since it wasn't I had to open the window and had the consent noise of generators/hotel equipment - maybe it was someone else AC working properly.

Bed was too soft with cheap pillows.

Breakfast buffet was ok.

Staff on check in desk were polite.

This was one of those places where you are grateful you can charge the expense.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Bristol. Nice old hotel with character!
But it is an old hotel not what I was expecting. Not a 4 stars for sure!
Plastic glass in the toilet, no face towel like usual in Europe. A lot of staff
seemed to be on training. Difficult to find someone for handling your luggages.
The bed are too soft and the pillow too very bad sleep! Ask for a firmer bed they don't have!
Very disappointing but well situated I will never come back here for the price!

Room Tip: Room 688 was quiet and a lot of windows good for fresh air.
