Visited Oslo for Constitution Day 2014 (200th anniversary). We stayed at the Hotel Bristol, at first glance this may seem an expensive place to stay. However after looking at the online search sites we contacted the hotel direct and obtained an offer rate. We decided to go for an upgrade to one of their business class rooms. This was very comfortable. It had separate WC and bathroom which also had shower cubicle & bath.
Breakfast was included in room rate and consisted of extensive selection of hot and cold buffet and fresh fruit. My favourite was the seafood selection, smoked salmon and herring in various sauces. I preferred the cold buffet as the hot food could have been better. The best breakfast item was porridge which is made fresh to order.
Reception staff were very friendly had good command of several languages and able to provide local tourist information. We purchased the Oslo Pass at the hotel which gives access to most of the cities tourist attractions and transport system (tram, underground & ferry).
The hotel provides free WiFi and has a spa. We did not have time to make use of the spa.
