“Beautiful hotel, exceptional breakfast”
Reviewed 3 September 2014

And very easy to reach. Take the fast train from the Oslo airport to the National Theater station and walk a little less than 10 minutes to get to this historic building. The rooms are quite comfortable for two people though the bathrooms are quite small. Sunday breakfast was extraordinary with a wide variety of traditional foods, fresh baked breads, made to order omelets and more. We had two rooms for our group and the one which faced the street was very noisy at night.

The hotel is in the heart of Oslo city, only a short walk from the hotel, you have fantastic shopping opportunities. Oslo,s main street KarlJohans gate, the Royal palace, museums and the waterfront area Aker brygge, and most of Oslo,s other atractions Quality, tradition and service is put in the high seat, something you will experience when entering the lobby. The elegance and venerableness that has characterized this hotel since 1920 when hotel Bristol in Oslo opened its doors for their first guests for the first time, The hotel has 251 rooms (10 suites), Bristol Grill, Bristol Library Bar, Hambros cafe, Spa, conference rooms, parking etc, food is fantastic, so yes, a beautiful experience.

Room Tip: They are all exelent, but ofcorse , the suites are even better

This hotel met all our expectations, we arrived very early in the morning and checked in with ease. The staff were very friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived, checking us into a room early so we could drop our bags and get ready for a day of sightseeing. The hotel has not been updated since the 1920's and is truly beautiful. It has an air of grandeur about it and you really feel like you have stepped back in time. Breakfast was AMAZING, it really had everything you could want and more, even a Nespresso machine to help yourself! And it was set in what looks like a ballroom with Chandeliers and beautiful furnishings.
It is in a really great location also, Oslo is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited, would highly recommend this wonderful place and this hotel. Don't be put off by expensive food and drink prices, Norway is well worth the visit despite this!

I had a great stay at the Hotel Bristol. After reading a review by a solo traveller about ending up in a tiny single room, I made sure that I had booked a standard double room. The room was very spacious and looked like the pictures on the website. I faced into the courtyard so it was very quiet. The breakfast was a good spread. On the last day I had to leave very early so the front desk had a breakfast packed and ready to go for me.

I greatly enjoyed sitting down in the lobby listening to the piano music and I found the service to be great. I booked on the hotel website where there was a deal on: stay 3 nights and receive 30% off which made the stay more affordable.

We stayed at the Hotel Bristol in Oslo, Norway in July 2014. We were part of a tour group on the move covering Sweden, Denmark and Norway in about 15 days. Our favorite hotel on our trip was the Hotel Bristol. The lobby, dining rooms and bedrooms and bathrooms were all updated and elegant. All of Scandinavia was experiencing a heat wave that they had not had in 25 years! Few places had air conditioning or fans. Thank goodness you could open the windows and there was a fan system that kept the air moving! The Bristol is located in the center of Oslo with restaurants, night clubs, sights to see, and the pier all within 10 minutes or less walking. The breakfast at the Hotel Bristol was the best of many breakfasts we had in Scandinavia. The morning we left for home we had to meet our taxi at 3:30 am. When we got home I realized that I had forgotten to get my wallet from the safe. In it was my driver's license, a credit card and money. We immediately emailed the Hotel Bristol and the person who answered had collected the wallet and had it at the desk. We arranged for the wallet to be mailed to us. It was on it's way to Texas by the next morning. All our contents were intact and we were so grateful for the professional treatment and caring promptness that allowed us to end our visit on a very positive note. Thank you Hotel Bristol!

Our second stay at this hotel which has a wonderful location. Arrived at 01:00 am and no one to assist with my baggage. At the age of 76 this is a hassle. The hotel has not changed and retains its charm. Breakfast was good.
The problem was with the position of the shower in our room. I am not tall 5'8'' and yet as the bath tub over which the shower head sprays is very narrow allied to the fact that the wall of the room slopes over the bath tub even I could not take a shower standing. To turn around for "allover" lathering is not only very difficult it is very downright dangerous

We have stayed at the Bristol on three different visits to Olso, this year for four nights in August. The Bristol is a grand old hotel in the heart of Oslo. The Bristol has the air of grandeur, and one of our joys each afternoon or evening has been enjoying coffee or a drink in the lounge. Our rooms each year have been clean and spacious, and the reception staff has been unfailingly helpful. The breakfasts are fabulous with a multitude of choices. If one desires eggs prepared in any special way, the chef is always happy to oblige. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the main sights in central Oslo, and it is also right across the street from the Flybuss to the Oslo airport (Gardermoen). We look forward to staying at the Bristol on our next visit to Oslo.
