I feel this cafe deserves a good review - it is a lovely quiet place to sit in a beautiful setting (near the holocaust memorial) and is not far from both the viking ship museum and the fram museum. The food is also really good, freshly made and very reasonably priced compared to other places near the museums - we had a really good hot sandwich made with olive and tomato bread for 60nok, and the dish of the day (carbonara) also for 60nok. The service was also really helpful and friendliest. I would really recommend going here if you are at the museums and want somewhere nice to eat without being too expensive.

Had looked forward to having lunch here, since this Cafe is supplied by a well-known restaurant/catering company in Oslo.

However, there was surprisingly little choice - and what they had (panini, pizza, and 3 types of cake) didn't look very tempting.
I ended up taking the lunch dish of the day - salmon (cooked and cured), sausage, salad and potatoes. I didn't try the (cold, fried) sausage, but the cooked salmon was truely horrible, which is quite an unusual experience in Norway! It tasted of old fat/cod liver oil, not of salmon at all. The garlic mayonnaise seemed prefab, but was actually one of the moest tasty items of this meal. The potatoes were bland, mushy and watery. The cured salmon was OK (not too salty, which was nice), and the salad fresh but uninspired. Olive oil was available, but no vinegar. Service - even taking into account it was selfservice - was not very good, I had to go back to the counter several times to get milk, salt, and pepper (everything was empty).
The location, rooms and view are nice though.

This sounds awfully grumpy, but this really was a disappointing experience.
I was here on a weekday, and I believe they have more choice in the weekend. But I will definitely not be back!
Visit the museum (interesting, but a lot of text, mostly in Norwegian only), but I would recommend eating somewhere else.
