We visited Oslo in June 2011. Hotel is very conveniently located near the station. Staff is excellent. Housekeeping is good. Complimentary Breakfast is filling with a good selection. What we particularly loved was the complimentary evening snack with cook it yourself waffles, pancake and eggs. Tea, coffee and fruits throughout the day reduces your food bill substantially. The rooms and bathrooms are small but clean. We would definitely revisit!

We had a great room fronting the hotel. Views of the water and the opera building, not complete views, but views. There was no noise from the confronting across the street. Herald the main man at the desk should be cloned, pouring coffee, seating guests, dealing with taxiis or directions he was superb!!! There is a free breakfast and it was quite good. The supper, also free was not as wonderful. But perhaps we were jaded after great food elsewhere. It was a very good experience all in all.

I have mixed feelings about the hotel though, I have to say, I would stay here again. It is in a great location for getting around as it is so close (10 minute walk) from the main train station where all the trams as well as most of the metro goes through as well as being easy to walk to a lot of places.
The staff are great- incredibly helpful and very friendly.
The breakfast buffet is fantastic- you can feast on eggs any way, yoghurts, cerals, smoked salmon and cheeses and sliced meats.
The fact that dinner is included in the price as well is pretty amazing as Oslo restaurants cost a small fortune so this makes a big difference.
Having said this, we had a room for two people/two beds and the room is a bit cramped, narrow beds, tiny bathroom. Not much room to move around at ll.
At night the construction work across the street is MAJOR (a motor tunnel is being built) and went on one night until 1am and then started again at 6am. It was awful. If your windows are closed you can mostly block it out, but in summer, if you want some fresh air and have a window open a little it is like the diggers are in your room. Pretty awful. I imagine the room at the back of the hotel are much better while this is going on.
So, next time I come I will book a larger room (knowing I can at least offset the higher cost with some meals at the hotel) and one at the back of the hotel not facing the street.
I do really like this place though, i love the lounge, all the free tea/coffee, newspapers and fruit throughout the day and the very lovely staff.

Room Tip: One at the back and maybe a larger one than you would normally book.

A hotel with lots of character. My husband and two children had a bedroom with a living room with pull out sofa for three nights. The bathroom was spacious with shower and tub. The room was decorated with lots of interesting furntiture and pictures. My parents had another room - again spacious with interesting furnishings.

The meals were excellent - a delicious breakfast in the morning, a nice pancake treat mid afternoon and a very nice hot and cold buffet at dinner. Coffee and tea all the time! We checked out very early on the last day and the breakfast was all set for our departure although it was earlier than the posted time. How nice for them to offer this despite our early departure.

There is a good fitness center with several new machines.

The staff (especially Patrick and Harald!) were very helpful and friendly.

The rooms were very comfortable and furnished with personality (in a good way). The meals were tasty and plentiful and with prices as they are - a great bonus for a family of 6.

The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Central Station.

I highly recommend this hotel!

This is a great place to stay. Rooms were comfortable and affordable.get a deluxe room for more space and better sleeping that faces away from the front of the hotel. food was excellent at breakfast and lunch especially for a family of four! Patrick at the front desk was a delightful help! The lounge was nice to sit and have a beer. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Deluxe room away from front of hotel

The hotel is located very close to the railway station and main places of interest.
Very helpful staff ready to support in all situations.
Dinner included in price is a real competitive advantage taking into account high prices in Norway restaurants.

Billed as not a great area it really isn't that bad.We felt completely safe so ignore the scaremongering. The hotel is clean, quiet, wonderfully friendly and helpful especially Haarald on the desk. Best sleep I've ever had in a hotel. We had a juniour suite which was ideal. The free wifi is great. The food is delicious, like home cooked food away from home and as much as you can eat. The free afternoon pancakes and fresh coffee on tap is a real blessing in an expensive city. I can't recomment this place enough. If you're looking for stuck up pretenciousness this is not the place for you, no one will fawn over you. Instead it is quiet friendly Scandanavian hospitality that is like staying with a best friend. Fantastic!

Room Tip: Juniour Suite is great
