“A real jewel of the city”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

A wonderful restaurant having everything in place to add that spice of "special" to every visit. I went there for a romantic dinner & celebration and experienced an evening challenging to forget. Very well-known wall portraits add to the perception of an unique place with soul. Its luxurious and historical atmosphere, highly competent and kind service, as well as delicious & aesthetically beautiful meals make excellent prerequisites for a perfect evening. The rest is up to who you come with. :)

“One of Oslo's finest”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This is an old and legendary NOrwegian restaurant that simply oozes class. Top professional waitors and great kitchen. I just wish they could change their menu more often as I eat here a lot.

“Great Club Sandwich!!”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

Stopped in for lunch while on a recent visit to Oslo. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and highly popular with clientele judging from how busy it was. Fabulous open sandwich buffet at the weekends but I opted for the Club Sandwich and glad I did. As with most things in Oslo - very pricey, but being a Londoner, not too much of a shock. The restaurant is just opposite the National Theatre and close to the a Royal Palace.

“The old lady is surprisingly fit”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Let's be hones, Theatercafeen has never been famous for its food. It is the atmosphere, the celebrity guests and the history. But - hey - we cake for an early dinner and the good was brilliant. Everyone in the parti was positively surprised. The fish was well cooked, so was the meat. The service was friendly and swift. No complaints, just praise for the old lady.

“A touch of genuine class!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We didn't pay for our meal but we would return even if we had to. This is not just a restaurant but a piece of Norwegian history. Yes the prices are expensive but so is everything in Oslo. For your hard earned money, you might as well enjoy superb surroundings, impeccable service and wonderfully cooked meals in a truly special place.
