“Good food and drinks, service not so good”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Went here on a weekday at around 16 and we were allmost by ourselves in the amazing outdoor seating. Still, I had to get the menus by myself! I went to the bar for ask for it, and they pointed at a table by the entrance. Pretty bad!
It didn't took long time until all the tables were occupied and the tempo pretty high! The service got a lot better during our evening. We had the crazy duck and some small platters to share. The food is really good!

Has also been here for drinks, which was amazing!

“Tasty Asian Crossover food and relaxed atmosphere.”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

This is a restaurant with good food and a nice outside sitting area. This is particularly nice on a warm summer evening with sun set and the river just next to the restaurant. The place seems to be very busy and if you are a group a table reservation is recommended. We were a big group and most of us choose one of the set menus (YIN). This consisted of several small dishes like sashimi mix, fried rolls with duck, grilled chicken and a very nice strawberry soup for dessert. The price if the set menu is about 36 euro so for Oslo is not so bad. In addition you have to pay for drinks and coffee. Since the place was busy it took some time to get the food but it went reasonably well and as a group we were busy eating and talking so it was not really a problem. The restaurant also has an a la carte menu if you want to pick other things. The restaurant also has room for sitting inside so on cold days I would prefer that even though the outside space has parasols and heating and blankets are provided.

“come here for tasty food, not for service...”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We, two girls, had dinner in the outside area - very cosy but still stylish. I was very happy with the menu, basically everything sounded promising. When it came, the food was lovely.
However, only one of us good to order food, as the waiter was not really familiar with the ingredients of the dishes so that my friend did not dare to order food due to her different food intolerances. Quite disappointing that a waiter does not know if a dish contains soy or not... In addition, whenever something went wrong (for example he got confused about the drinks we ordered) he started swearing! Weird...
Anyway, tasty food, good wine, great location. I'll try again.

“Nearly had it all...”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

We tried to walk straight into this restaurant at about 8:30pm after scouring the streets of Oslo for a suitable place to eat for almost an hour (my sister is a vegetarian, so we were disappointed with the apparent lack of options in the city)! Unfortunately they were full but kindly offered us a table in 30 minutes, which we gratefully accepted.
Once we returned, we were blown away by the presentation and quality of the food we were served, not to mention its reasonable price. However, the only reason I cannot rate Sudost higher comes down to the service. We were made to wait for at least 40 minutes after the end of our meal to get the check and leave. By this time it was 11:30 at night.

“Best outdoor-seating - great lounge-feel”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Süd Øst is located at the lower-end of Grünerløkka which is a realy nice and trendy neighbourhood on the east-side of Oslo. I've lived in this area for 10 years + and with Süd Øst the area has really developed into something vibrant and good. The indoor of Süd Øst is big, cosy and nice - actually and old bank. But THE best thing about SüdØst is the outdoor seating with its lounge-feeling during spring and summer. A really great place to go for something to eat or enjoy one of their many great drinks. The food is asian crossover that works. But compared to other restaurants in Oslo I do fint it a bit pricy. Since the outdoor and the indoor is big spaces that can handle a lot of guests - they do have something to work on regading the service and the attention to the guests. But what they lack in service and price - the scenery and ambiance covers. Definetly a place to visit and enjoy a bright summer-evening in Oslo - or a cosy fire indoor during a colder autum/winter-evening.
