Arriving cold and wet after a very chilly cruise around the fjord, we badly wanted something warm to eat. The outdoor tables and chairs were wet after the downpour but a charming young man (with excellent English) turned up the heaters, dried the chairs and informed us they would be open shortly and we were welcome to wait. In a very few minutes be brought us the menus and seemed pleased when we ordered the home-made fish cakes with mashed potatoes (with a soft drink thrown in, a good bargain in this notoriously expensive country). The meal was simple but piping hot, the fishcakes delicious (he told us the kind of fish but it meant nothing to us) and the mashed potatoes to die for! So happy were we that, at the end, we could not resist ordering a glass of the local schnapps. We would certainly return and try out some of the other fish on offer. It would be hard to find anything fresher since the fish market is immediately next door. Highly recommended.
