Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, Kristiansand
Ranked #12 of 19 Hotels in Kristiansand
Reviewed 18 November 2013

I stayed at Radisson Blu Caledonien multiple times before. This is my 7th stay here. I just moved to Kristiansand as an expat and to be able to earn Club Carlson points, I chose Radisson Blu as my temporary lodging during 27 days. As I was a gold member, a smiley receptionist upgraded me from a business class room that I booked to a suite. I was welcomed by a plate of exotic fruits in the middle of Norway cold and that was really awesome!! Every morning, My room was cleaned very carefully. I love the bath robes they provide, which is a luxury that most other hotels in Kristiansand does not give. Additionally, hotel has special events such as ballroom events, Stand up shows, concerts and a piano bar. Actually hotel's lobby bar is known as one of the best places to hang out on Saturday nights. Many people from all around the town were coming to the event room at the second floor dressed up and looking good. All I had to do was to take the elevator from my suite down to the event room and have fun. It is a great hotel. the only disadvantage is the rooms and the furniture are extremely old. Kristiansand has a 2 brand new hotels: 1 Scandic and 1 Clarion. But the rooms at Radisson are much bigger than those. The elevator is extremely noisy though at Radisson. that was the only down side for me. I strongly recommend anybody to stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Just book the business class room and ask for an upgrade to a suite if you arrive on a weekend day!

This hotel used to be number 1 in Kristiansand. The rooms are very dated and old. The look is from the 80's. Nice ppl working there. Nice bar. Boring food. Very nice location. Slow wifi compared to the competition.. Awfull bed. Seem to forget that the world moved forward. Very many tiny details could have been fixed easy.

Usually like staying at the Radisson Blu chain but not this time.
- hotel is in need of a major face-lift
- the bed covers were dirty
- the matteress was stained
On a positive note, the heated bathroom floors are always nice, they serve a good full breakfast and the staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Older hotel, but clean and decent. Great location, some rooms are spacious, others are small, i believe the hotel has been added on to, so it may depend on which wing you stay in. Great location, near the water and restaurants, bars shopping etc.

You can tell that this is a old hotel, but you have everything in one place.

Stayed here for one night, in the business class room on the 12th floor.
Big room, with a lounge and separate bedroom, minibar and coffee machine.

Breakfast was big and had all the things you expect them to have.

Price was 1590kr for the business class room.

On the first floor you can find a bar and restaurant. All in one building :)

Very disappointing, it really needs to be renovated!! The room and interior was old, the table was broken, and in general it was really bad maintained. The pictures on the website is misleading, and the price too high. Breakfast was OK, the staff was friendly, and the view from the room was nice. Other than that, wait until it is renovated to stay here.

A wery sentral hotel, 5 minutes from the center of town. The personell is wery helpful and serviceminded. There is a bar and a restaurant in connection with the reception area, and it was easy to bring food to the room when we wanted a late meal.

We booked a business class room after looking at the pictures we found on booking.com. These photos did not match the room we were given at all and we were wery dissapointed! The rooms have not been refurbished in the last 10-15 years, the bathroom was dark and uninviting and many of the tiles in the bathroom were completely worn down.

The helpful personell at the reception gave us an offer to upgrade to another room, but then we would be separated from our traveling companions so we declined.
