This park has everything! The combination of animals and amusements gives the upportunity to both just have a nice, calm day looking at the animals, or have a lot of fun in the amusementpark in the summer - and do'nt forget that Captain Sabeltooth is here then :-) If you are visiting in the summertime, you should use at least two days in the park - it's so huge! For us who live here, we often visit the zoo during the weekend with our kids. It's a great place for families all year long, and i'm happy for living so close to it!

“Nice park, but crowded in the high season”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

Nice park. A combination of zoo and amusement park. Very attractive for families with small children. You must at least set aside two days here. The zoo is a mix of Norwegian animal and exotic animal like tiger, lion, monkey and many different reptiles.
I recommend to bring food. There are a lot of places to eat and sit down. The park is big and small children need transportation (stroller).
Lately there been a discussion in the newspaper here, Because they killed the kangaroos for making place for cheetah. Perhaps a sign that they become too commercial.
Since we live in the area we buy yearly passes, because otherwise it gets expensive. After 3-4 visit you have save the money.

“Stars on season”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

It IS a great place but it depends too much on the seasons, since unlike ordinary zoos, much of it its exposed to the elements.

So, in the Winter I would give it two stars. Restaurants and a lot of attractions are closed, including merchandising. It's beyond disapointing. You will NOT see many animals. Remember Jurassic Park (the first and only real good one), when they don't see a single dinossaur? Yeah...it's like that...

And don't get fooled into buying a ticket to the water park section. They will sell it to you shamelessly (if you are a tourist from outside Norway), when you cannot see a damn thing since everything is closed.

On summer though...awesome for everyone!

“Best ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2013

Best park I ever visited!!!
Animals have so much space, everyone seems just comfortable and calm in its space, which is the best thing you could see watching animals <3

Amazing time spent over there!!

I visited it in Sept. 2006

“You never too old for a trip to the zoo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

You never too old for a trip to the zoo, and Dyreparken in Kristiansand are probably the best there is. Lot of animals in beautiful surroundings and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Over the years we have been here quite a few times and we have always enjoyed our visit. The only negative thing is the prices for food etc in the park which are quite high, but this is Norway so that is to be expected.
