“A very noisy place.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2007

They are renovating the hotel, and construction work is going on from early morning till 7 in the evening, even on weekends.
Relaxing is impossible. If we had known this we would never have booked here, but they are not informing the guests about it.
We tried to get some sleep before a concert but had to give up. The noise is all over the hotel, so changing room will not help.
This was very poor value for money. They are charging regular prices even though the place is a construction site.
We had to catch up on our sleep when we got home.
Another thing: Items from the minibar are RIDICIOUSLY overpriced, some of the worst I have seen. And there are no pricelist in the room. If you want to know what it costs, you have to call the reception.
About the rooms; we had a standard room, and it was very... standard. Nothing special.
Do not stay here untill renovation is completed.

  • Liked — The hotel was conveniantly located for our needs.
  • Disliked — Noise all day. Not good value for money.

Trondheim, General Manager at Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel, Trondheim, responded to this review, 1 February 2007
We apologize for the experience our guest have had during her stay at Radisson SAS Royal Garden Hotel. Our aim is to have satisfied guest and certainly a good night sleep. We can only ask another chance to change your opinion. Our renovation which take place in parts of the hotel will be finished mid February and our construction workers do their best to avoid disturbance for our guests. Radisson SAS Royal Garden is undergoing an extensive “facelift” and our ambition is to still be the best choice for travellers coming to Trondheim either on business or leisure.

The hotel was in a great location right on the river, near major tourist sights, and with direct access to the major highways into Trondheim. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were fortunate when we arrived a few hours early that our room was already made up which spoke volumes for their flexibility.
The room (520) was of a high standard with quality furnishings and some nice features such as air con, window sitter with a beautiful view over the river and a large bathroom with all that you could ask for. We were glad not to have stayed in one of the standard rooms - rather we had a river view room - because the standard rooms only had windows that opened onto the internal atrium and looked down upon the breakfast room. It would not have been as pleasant staying here without fresh air and a pleasant outlook.
Breakfast spread had most things you could ask for, although on the first morning of our stay they were a bit disorganised and ran late setting the room. The breakfast room has a nice ground level outlook to the river.
The only parking available is valet parking in a private garage below the hotel. The price is quite steep but was comparable to other parking stations throughout the city. On the plus side the hotel did us a summer special when we checked out which made the stay excellent value for money.

I travel to Norway often for business, and found the Trondheim Radisson SAS to be very much like their other hotels in Europe - nicely decorated, clean and friendly. When we arrived, a large tour bus has just checked in (and taken all the Standard Rooms) so we were upgraded to a Business Room. How nice! There was free wireless Internet, free snacks delivered to our room around 5pm each night, and upgraded toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel is beautiful, with lots of glass which made for fantastic views of Trondheim. The hotel is in a great location for tourists - all the sights in Trondheim are within walking distance. The hotel breakfast is great - a full American style buffet (hot and cold items). The front desk staff were some of the friendliest I've ever run across (and this is my 84th trip to Europe in less than 8 years!). They truely went above and beyond their normal responsibilities while helping us figure out the ferry schedules (we were driving to Alesund the next day and had heard the ferries had gone on strike); not only did they confirm for us that the strike was over (whew!), but they called the ferry office for the area we would be driving through and confirmed the ferry schedules (we were taking 3 different ferries). An excellent choice if you're visiting Trondheim!

We stayed her for one weekend with my inlaws.
My husband and I were attanding a weeding so his parents were our baby sitters.

When we arrived we got everything we requested, baby cot, connecting doors. The room was of good size, so it was nt cramped with the baby cot and a lot of luggage.

Just one minus, it was fully booked so we had a hard time finding available tables for breakfast.

It seems a bit tough to critisise this hotel for being too modern, but it was!. All glass and metal, with a bit of Scandinavian wood. Our room had a window which looked out over an atrium- no outside view.It was well equipped and comfortable, but could have been in any city in the world. Breakfast was excellent, but we didn't eat in for dinner.
Parking under the hotel, very convenient
