We stayed here with my parents and children for one night on the way to Stockholm. We had an initial problem with the room assigned to my handicapped mother (which was inordinately far from the lobby), but the staff addressed the issue promptly and professionally, and we were moved (without any fuss to us) to rooms that were perfect for our family. The hotel is just across the river (with a pedestrian bridge right at the hotel entrance) from a new, trendy shopping and dining district, which was a plus.

This hotel has a great location beside the river and within walking distance of the best parts of the city. We stayed twice and both times had modern rooms in the newer part of the hotel. It's certainly worth asking for one of these types of room as we did see other rooms in the older building and they were not very nice. The main reason to stay here is the fantastic breakfast which is one of the best we have ever had. Go early and take your time! The service is also really friendly and helpful.

- shabby rooms in older building

Average hotel room - clean and spacious enough. OK location next to the harbor and good location for city center. Breakfast is why you should stay here over any other hotel in Trondheim. Fresh squeezed juice station, omelette station, wide selection of fresh baked breads, cereals, cheeses, and pastries, coffee bar with barista, meat slicing station, waffles, even meatballs. Can be slightly crowded, but well manageable. Some local friends of ours come here to eat breakfast before work or on weekends.

Stayed two nights at the hotel in August. What strikes you immediately is the welcoming service from all the staff, all smiling and giving very very good service. The breakfast is ranked as Norways best hotel breakfast, and you understand why when you are there, 4 - 6 chefs preparing anything from smoothies to salmon dishes or just anything you like. Even their range of hot smoked salmon is incredible, make sure that you have enough time to enjoy a gastronomic travel through Norway in the breakfast buffet. And in the afternoon they have a small tasting session in the lobby, with cheese and other regional products. I stayed in room 237, a traditional hotel room, no AC so on a sunny day it was a little hot but the window towards the harbour could easily be opened, but during night to much noise outside to keep the window open. I also heard the piano man downstairs, so make sure that you get a room with a view towards the river and not over the piano bar. If you are looking for very good service and friendly staff serving delicious breakfast in a hotel with traditional rooms, I highly recommend Rica Nidelven!

Absolutely fabulous brunch! In addition to the lovely Norwegian selections, there were many great food stations of things made just for you: omelets, mini-smoothies of fresh fruit, carving station, espresso bar, orange juice machine that squeezes it for you as you watch, enormous range of choices for everything! Plus, the room was lovely and spacious. Easy walk to Nidaros, restaurants, shopping.

When we arrived we were put off to find out the hotel has no car parking, and were directed to the railway station car park about 100m away, which cost 175 NOK for the night.

We asked for a quiet room and were given one on the corner of the building overlooking a little marina area so the view was nice too! We were not disturbed at all by any noise whatsoever so the request for a quiet room worked! The room itself was on the small side but furnished in a modern way and was clean.

Being exhausted after much travelling over the past few days we ordered room service for dinner and the food was the best we had eaten whilst in Norway, and also more reasonably priced than other hotels we stayed at during our trip. We also ordered a room service breakfast, but because I forgot to tick the box for a time (duh!) we rang down to ask where it was as we had to leave for another flight and they brought it quickly and didn't charge us for it, even though the mistake was mine! Food was amazing again and we were very grateful and appreciative of the fact that we got it for free!

Despite the initial gripe about the lack of parking we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to others. I have deducted one star for the lack of parking, otherwise would have given this hotel 5 stars.

Arrived after a tough drive up from Alesund and got lost by following directions from Visitnorway.com ( obviously need updating), so wasn't in the best of moods. The hotel has no car park, I felt mislead by the website that says 'parking nearby' - which i asssumed to be their own car park, it's actually across the road at the railway station (175NOR / £20 UKP - for the night). Hotel is very modern and spacious, overlooking the marina and despite a bit if trek to the room, it was in the east part of the hotel, we settled in. Having been promised a quiet room we were very happy with this room, although a little small it is well furnished and modern, very clean. Had room service for evening meal, for a hotel the best value we saw in Norway, food was great :) Peaceful nights sleep and had ordered room service breakfast for the morning......turns out we forgot to put a time for delivery on the card, so when I rang down complaining when it didn't show for 9:30am I got an immediate apology (even though it wasn't their fault!) food arrived 10 mins later, stacks of it!! First class (as others have said) shame we had to rush it to go catch our plane.
So, after me arriving in a grumpy mood, we left feeling happy ( and full!). I would highly recommend this hotel and say thanks to the desk and room service staff.
