“Excellent hotel close to everything”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

This hotel is excellent value for money. It is close to the railway station and the hurtigruten and a short walk to the centre of town and the Cathedral. Reasonable size rooms with tea & coffee and Wi-Fi and good bathroom with heated towel rail which is good for drying small items of washing. Good space in the bathroom for toilet articles. The breakfast as everyone else has said was wonderful with everything you could hope for. Staff could be a little more friendly in the restaurant but the gentleman who checked us in was extremely nice and helpful. We arrived off the ferry and although we couldn't check in right away he stored our luggage for us and got us a room asap. Trondheim is a pleasant town but a little dead on a Sunday - not much open.

Good location near train station where you can park your car (pricey, credit card payment only). The hotel has no parking facility but you can drive up to the front door to drop off your bags and check in.
We had a nice big room, street-side but not noisy at night so we could sleep with open window, despite light sleep. Very pleasant and efficient reception staff. Check-in/check-out expeditious and friendly.
Breakfast was absolutely fabulous, practically whatever you can think of, top quality food, friendly staff, we would have liked to stay longer than just two nights. The best part (for me) was the espresso bar. The gentleman in charge is really knowledgeable and the espresso was as good as Italian. He helped me have a pleasant start of the day!
We have nothing but praise for this hotel and the staff made us feel truly welcome.

My friend and I stayed in a twin for only one night in May 2014. My favorite part of the hotel was the unusual art in the lobby and the food display and decorations in the breakfast room. You could eat while looking out at the harbor. People came around and served you tea or coffee, while you helped yourself to the terrific buffet.

The location is close to the Hurtigruten ferry, although still about a third of a mile walk.

The receptionist was friendly and gave us a different room, once we let her know we were given a double instead of a twin.

The best thing about the room was the bed -- you just sunk down into the soft yet supportive mattress. It was a bit crowded in the room with a table and chair by the window. The room was a bit dark, but was lit by several lamps.

We were on a Nordic Visitor tour -- I wish we had more than one night here at this hotel. I would have taken photos of lots of the art, decorations, and food displays inside the hotel. This was the first hotel we had that required us to use our key card, once we were inside the elevator.

This is a wonderfully placed hotel with the best breakfast you can imagine. And I have nothing but great experiences with the staff. But there is a but. A big one. Make sure you don't get a room in the annex facing the street and thereby the railway - unless you like to stay away all night. I've been put there twice now, and that's enough - another hotel for me next time - I go often to Trondheim. But if you can get a room facing the river, or even the street as long as you are not in the annex, you'll have a wonderful time. For "location" in the table I wrote "average", but it is either Terrible or Excellent depending on where you get a room.

Room Tip: Well, to repeat, do not take a street room in the annex. A river room is good both in the main part...

Since the hotel is popular for its breakfast I had high expectations. And I was overwhelmed. There is nothing you can't get for breakfast. There are cooks who'll prepare lots of dishes fresh. There was salmon, eggs in every form, smoothies and SO much more.
On top of that, the rooms are beautiful and dinner in the evening great, but quite expensive.

You'll have a great time!

Walking into the room, you are struck by the comfort, style, and amenities, and that's before you look out the window and see the view of the water! A large hotel with a small boutique feel, the Rica Nidelven in Trondheim was an unexpected luxury. The breakfast, which was included, is also lovely, with many choices. The hotel sits right on the edge of the walking/biking bridge into the city center, and was a short walk from the train station, and then to the port.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room.

If you are visiting Trondheim, stay here. Convenient location, 5 minutes from the station, 5 minutes from town, 10 minutes from the cathedral. It is situated on the river and is built over the water. Great views of the marina and harbour.

We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite and this was fantastic. Balconies, views, large room, large bed, spacious bathroom. Couldn't fault it. I would imagine the other rooms are of a similar standard. If you have the money, get a suite.

The staff are great, very helpful and friendly. Check in was quick and efficient.

We had to catch an early train so could not take breakfast. But it was no bother to provide us with breakfast bags filled with goodies, (yoghurt, roll, muesli, fruit, orange juice). 1 of the bags was GLUTEN-FREE. A fantastic touch and great service.

We were very happy staying here and would stay here again without hesitation. You won't be disappointed if you stayed here too. A FANTASTIC PLACE!!!

Room Tip: If you can afford a suite, take it!!!
