We did this from Bergen and come back to Bergen. Some tourists doing this were ending in Oslo, thise you could see them dragging their luggage in the snow on the ice, no fun at all. It was snowing that day, so we had very chilly and foggy boat ride, it's eerily pretty. The photos taken that day are in black and white.

DO IT! Well worth the money. Spectacular views you wont get anywhere else. I was a bit worried when I booked it about finding the transfer points but it was really easy, the transport was clean and comfortable. It is a long day, but dont let that put you off, i would do it all over again in a heartbeat. The cruise and the Flam train were my highlights! AMAZING! I did a totally different fjord cruise the next day, and it just couldnt compare to this.

We made our own "Norway in a Nutshell" tour! From Bergen to Flam by train/bus and a bot ride down the fjords. A night at Flam and then a ride on the famous Flam Railway to Myrdal where we caught the main-line train to Oslo. Each part of the journey was very picturesque, but the main idea was to take a boat ride through the famous fjords.

We booked the train from Oslo to Myrdal, followed by the Flam railway, overnight in Flam, fjord trip from Flam to Gudvangen, then bus to Voss and onward train to Bergen. This is a self guided tour and yes, you can book each section on your own and probably save about 1/3 in cost, but for the ease (collecting all the tickets in 1 place) and organisation of connections I think it is was worth it and it all worked. The normal Oslo-Bergen railway sections are fine, nice scenery from Oslo towards Flam, but nothing spectacular. The highlight begins with the Flam railway which is a great adventure although there was a lot of mist and we sadly missed some of the spectacular views. Flam in mid winter is a surreal place to visit and well worth the overnight stop over particularly as it means you can do the whole trip in day light. The fjord journey the next day from Flam to Gudvangen was spectacular. There were only about a dozen of us on a large new stealth like electric boat they have doing the route. Really incredible. Apart from the scenery, it was interesting to see how people live out in these remote parts with the boat acting as postman and transport. Finally connection by bus to Voss and onwards to Bergen by train. All in all an incredible trip and if you don't want to go to the time and agro of finding and booking each section yourself, then booking the whole thing through Fjord tours is an excellent option.

Thanks a lot for your great review! Doing this tour in winter can be quite exotic, with the snow and cold temperatures that we have now. We appreciate your feedback. Best regards, Marian Fjord Tours customer service
