“Authentic dinner”

Located just slightly off the harbour, this authentic old wooden house offers a good choice of a tasty local food: from caviar to moss. Attentive and quick service. Thoroughly enjoyable!

“Exquisite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2012

This place was genuinely a culinary experience.
it is set in an ancient and lovely part of town, in old wooden houses which give a lot of character in my opinion.
I went with two colleagues, we share their reindeer, deer and cod gratin - all were very very good - but the reindeer was absolutely *amazing*!
We had a bottle of french red wine (can't remember which) that was very good.

Service was immaculate as expected from this level of a restaurant.

Highly recommended.

“Good food but not special”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2012 via mobile

The food is really ok. But expensive. Really not worth the prize, it is high. You could find better food in Bergen. Check out TGI Fridays neart the SAS hotel Norway

“Nice enough food, beautiful rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

The rooms are charming, and the food traditional fine dining, Norwegian style, with oysters, mussels, whale, deer, reindeer, and fish. Everything is delicious, but the food sometimes lacks those special extras to lift it from nice to memorable. Also, why are many of the different dishes dressed the same way, with almost the same sides and sauces and arrangements on the plate? A little more creativity would lift the experience! For foreigners, the unique rooms, similar to Enhjørningen, and the novelty of exclusive Norwegian ingredients might make it a treasured experience. To make Norwegian customers happy, I think the kitchen could do well to be just a little more inventive. The cooking skills are clearly present, so that shouldn't be too difficult.

“Dine in a UNESCO World Heritage Site”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2012

To Kokker is situated on Bryggen, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the classic view of Bergen. It shares an address with another restaurant - you have to penetrate further into the alleyway. Dining is on the second floor in one of a sequence of cosy, low-ceilinged rooms with exposed beams. We were in one painted dark red and hung with a selection of quite decent artwork. There are four- and five-course menus for NOK495 and NOK595 respectively. We chose à la carte: Fish soup and mussel soup; tender of veal or reindeer with a game sauce, both with identical garnishes. All well-prepared but nothing spectacular. The wine list is vague about vintages yet expensive. Try a glass of Mercier champage for NOK110.
