“Wonderful restaurant down a back alley in Bergen!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2013

I loved loved loved this place! It was located down a back alley, and then up a flight of stairs into an ancient building in historic Bergen. The owner told us that the building itself was over 300 years old, and that most of it was original. It was gorgeous, all painted in a dark rose hue with Impressionistic paintings framed on the walls. We felt like we'd been transported back in time!

For my meal, I had a roast duck with a lovely apple conserve sauce, which was served along with roasted asparagus and potatoes. Wow...great! My vegetarian daughter has problems finding something on the menu, so they said "Of course we can make a nice salad dinner for here," which they did.

This restaurant was expensive, but well worth the price. I would love to return some day if ever back in this charming town.

“Exquisite!”

Our host suggested this restaurant in historic Briggen. We were treated to some of the best prepared seafood I've tasted anywhere in the world. Truly a restaurant that presents Scandinavian cuisine.

“World class”

Superb traditional restaurant in ancient Hanseatic merchants house. Fantastic food, short menu but every dish memorable. Go for the set 4-course menu, it is really good. Staff great, furnished in late 19th C style. Possibly one of the great restaurants of the world.

“Authentic dinner”

Located just slightly off the harbour, this authentic old wooden house offers a good choice of a tasty local food: from caviar to moss. Attentive and quick service. Thoroughly enjoyable!

“Exquisite”

This place was genuinely a culinary experience.
it is set in an ancient and lovely part of town, in old wooden houses which give a lot of character in my opinion.
I went with two colleagues, we share their reindeer, deer and cod gratin - all were very very good - but the reindeer was absolutely *amazing*!
We had a bottle of french red wine (can't remember which) that was very good.

Service was immaculate as expected from this level of a restaurant.

Highly recommended.
