“Narrow, expensive, but the hot chocolate is good”

Moliere is a miniature combination between pastry shop and bistro. The location corresponds to the name- it is placed close to the city' s theatre.
There is not too much free space inside- sometimes it can be too crowdy and noisy... In the backyard are placed tables too, but in my mind that spot is not very cosy- the toilets are close, and the facades around are old and grey.
The service is standard for Bergen- not too bad, not too friendly.
To me all sweets are nice. There can not be anything wrong if more chocolate is mixed with some cream or fruits. In this respect visitors can not be surpised- the cakes and other delicious things in Moliere are enough good.
But in my mind the hot chocolate could be the best order. They use natural cocoa- beans, and as a result you get a big cup full with something tasty, spicy, extremely good.
What about the prices- they are too high for offered standard and service.

The place to go for dessert, or a cup of hot chocolate (only espressos etc. during the day, bar at night). Good food but a little over prized. Great for a night out with excellent wine, beer and cognac selection together with homemade truffles.

My boyfriend and I took my father to the theatre and afterwards we went to Moliere. The place is really small, but they also have a little garden in the back with tables. We had pre-booked just to be sure, but luckily, the place was not crowded. We ordered lots of different Tapas dishes and we all found lots of tasty little favourites among the choices we made! The staff was helpful and pleasant.

We have eaten twice at Moliere during our stay in Bergen. The food is fresh, and the wines are thoughtfully chosen. Stop in for an afternoon snack or tapas, or a late night dessert (the truffles are incredible!)- you will not be disappointed with this understated and inviting cafe.

The chocolate and deserts are amazing. Over the years this place has become our favorite. This last visit we ate their food everyday. For one of us this is the best cafe and desert place in the world, including Paris. Sounds extravagent, but we were just eating some of their chocolate back at home after returning from Paris yesterday and that came up.

The interior is painted wood with old photos. We usually like to sit inside and watch people across the street in the park. Last time there was a group practicing tightrope walking. But then we have always been lucky with weather in Bergen also.
