Description: At the top of the famous Funicular in Bergen, 320 metres above sea level, you will find Fløien Folkerestaurant - well above everyday life and the noise of the city. The restaurant, opened in 1925, has been completely restored and is, with its distinctive architecture and prominent location, without a doubt an attraction in itself. Don't miss the amazing panoramic view over Bergen, the islands and the North Sea! Fløien Folkerestaurant is a very popular restaurant, not just with tourists, but also among the locals.

Im a local to Bergen. If you visit Floyen, stay here for a few drinks. The food is below average and overpriced. When you get hungry, head back to the city and get a proper meal.

We actually though this was going to be a good experience and expected some nice Norwegian cooking, but that wasn't the case. The evening we went there for dinner, the restaurant wasn't that full, so got a nice seat overlooking parts of Bergen. We were however quickly disappointed by the bad service we received. They forgot to bring us the water we asked for, they didn't give us the right cutlery our soup and mains, we had dirty breadknives, etc. The food wasn't really good either. Some of the dishes were very simple and uninspiring and overall it was the type of food you could get anywhere or even make yourself. Truly disappointing considering the cost as well.

Due to the location, no matter the reviews, you'll have no choice but to eat here on top of mount Floyen. It is not a tourist trap per se, since locals also come here, but since they have no competition, the overall quality is quite low.

The view is the best you can get, that's for sure. But this is the only excellent thing about this place.

To order, you'll have to queue inside. There are no menus I could see except for the lunch menu being shown... If you want from a la carte, you'll choose at the window when you order, making the process even slower -but not by much since the selection is extremely limited. When we visited, there were only two main course options... Then you pay, if you asked for food you get a number and wait. You'll have to wait quite a bit, even if there are not too many people...

The waiters all seem to be overworked or just not liking their job. No smile, no small talk, a complete conveyor belt service experience. They were clearly stressed, even though the place was not full. One or two of them were struggling with English a little bit as well -big surprise in Norway...

The food was totally average, nothing special but eatable.

Bottomline: have a beer, if the weather permits ice cream (freshly from the kiosk across the square) and enjoy the view, but don't expect a great dining experience.

We booked in advance (from UK) to celebrate a birthday and made the restaurant aware.
The view is lovely and our request for window seat was met.
Carpet was dirty where tables had been moved and not hoovered underneath.
Waiter had little knowledge and/or interest. We had to ask what specials were.
Our starter was completely forgotten. When our main course arrived we asked what had happened to it and were offered it at the same time - we declined.
Main course food was very nice.
Pudding choice was limited and explained poorly.
Toilets (female) toilets were worse we saw in Norway - dirty and without toilet roll.
A sad end to what should have been a memorable occasion.

Paid 120 Kroner for a soup buffet....It was the worst and second worst soup I ever had. And the most expensive soup.
