“Good family hotel”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

We stayed with our daughter and her family, with 3 small children. At check in they told us about the huge play room and free ice cream in a fridge in the lobby. We also took advantage of the indoor swimming pool. (Get towels at Reception - there are none in the pool area.) The rooms were nice - very Scandinavian and basic but nicely appointed. Beds were comfy and the pillows especially. People at the Reception desk were very helpful. Breakfast was quite a spread -everything you can think of, except American pancakes (thank goodness!) I would stay here again, especially with small children. And it's a perfect location - right on the main square.

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor and got quite a bit of noise from the streets. Norwegians love to be out la...

We have ordered a family room and we got a room which was used as meeting room with 2 camping beds. Very outdated, need a serious renovation. Very poor quality overall, not what you expect from Radisson, and specially not for the price you have to pay. Stay away from this hotel if you have another choice ! The only good is is the location

Perfect location, right in front of the lake and close to the shopping area and restaurants.
The bedroom is nice, but you have no space between beds if you need separate beds, so it may get a little uncomfortable.

We were here with family and had 3 different rooms in the hotel. We were there on a Saturday night and the bar under the hotel of so noisy. No one was able to sleep because all the students were hanging outside the hotel near the fountain and the music from the bar was very loud. Also the pillows of the beds were very uncomfortable and were according to the hotel new but all six of us had neck pain the next morning. Overall a very disappointing experience at the Radisson. We expected more of this hotel.

Room Tip: Try the other Radisson hotel at Brygge which is not that noisy.

Dear guest,
thank you for your feed-back to us. We apologize for the disturbance that you experienced at our hotel. Unfortuntaly there might be noise from the bars, as the hotel is in the middle of the city center. We have rooms facing four different streets/parks, and also some rooms that face the hotel atrium,so there should be an opportunity to ask for a more quiet location.
If you concider a stay here in the future, please contact us, and we will arrange a better location of your room. Best regards,

The title says it all. The hotel was clean(ish) and had a good bed - usually the 2 major criteria for enjoying a short stay at any hotel. But when you have to pay 1635 kr. pr. night (280USD/210EUR) you expect a little bit more. What we got for the price was a tired hotel, and probably some of the saddest hotel rooms in Bergen and a very average breakfast.

Already in the lobby, you see that this hotel probably is past its best. At check in, I was happy to get a room on the 8th. floor as I usually prefer higher floors and this hotel has 9 floors. The elevators were old and I a cracked mirror had probably remained unfixed for a few years. The hallway leading to the room was not encouraging either. Old carpets and not much to please the eye. The room itself was very small - and again - some old and worn carpets. We noticed a wall that had been painted, but only half way up which gave the room a shabbier look. The TV had a good choice of TV channels (including all the major Norwegian channels), but the picture quality was poor. The bed was comfortable and clean. The room had a bathtub, but as the pictures show - it was not very inviting.

We travelled with another couple and their room was exactly the same. They tried to upgrade the room, but the hotel was fully booked.

The hotel had some positives. The location is great and the check in/check out process was fast and effective. The staff were smiling and friendly.

For half the price we paid I would have been content with the product we got. I know Bergen is expensive, but it is also a great city to spend a weekend. My advice is to stay clear of this hotel, or make sure you get one of the refurbished rooms. The official hotel pictures indicate that not all rooms have the low standard we experienced.

The hotel is very Central, and by beeing Radisson I had some expectations.
However this was just a terrible experience.

The reception is OK, no more than that.. Staff in reception smiled and gave needed info.

However the rest are just to forget, keep far away from this hotel if you want to stay in Bergen!! So many alternatives which are more value for Money.

I stayd in 6th floor, had a room which I belive was furnished in the 70th, facing a inner local and With a temperature and airquality which makes you sick during the night,,, No air at all and no way to get fresh air or adjust temperature.

Breakfast another big disapointment, cheap cheap cheap! The scrambled eggs was raw, no smiling staff.. the only fruit they had was Apples! `Not even a water melon!! (This was mid summer!! Expected all kind of fruits...

And when the price for this terrible experience are Close to 2000 Nok for a person... Just forget it!

Room Tip: Just do not book any rooms here before the hotel is renewed..

The hotel is typical of the Radisson brand in Norway, that is, needs upgrading and is expensive. The location is great but if you are at the front of the hotel, you will be kept awake until the nightclub next door closes (about 3am).
Clean and resonable service.
