This turned out to be a great choice for us. It’s less expensive than the hotels in Bryggen, but still walking distance from everything. Nice plaza in front of it, nice lake with fountain behind it, good full breakfast to keep us going most of the day. And the room was one of the largest we’ve had in Norway (of course it was also one of the most expensive hotels we booked, so that might have something to do with it).
It’s right above a TGI Friday, which was pretty active at night, but though there was some noise it didn’t bother us too much (we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, so it might be louder on weekends). I see from other reviews that some people think it needs a renovation; well, the décor didn’t bother me at all, the beds were comfortable, the place was clean, and after the minuscule rooms we’d had in the two previous cities we had visited this felt quite nice.
