Very good central location in one of the old historic streets. The building on it's own is worth a visit - beautiful old type typical Norwegian building with lots of charm. Large kitchen/ dining area are free to use for the guests (the supermarket just 2 min away). Free WIFI in the room. Breakfast of cereal, tea and coffee/ juices provided in the kitchen. Shared bathroom wasn't a issue as only two rooms were occupied.

Fantastic dining room and spacious family rooms with the old world charm. Great service and very helpful staff. We had booked thru a travel portal online and had to modify our dates due to changes in our schedule. We were worried that our reservations would be cancelled due to the changes to the new dates, but we're surprised that the staff had updated the records. My children requested a garden facing room and we were provided a suite with a fantastic view of the mountains. We were offered refreshments at the time of check in which was welcome after a long bus ride from Oslo.

Would love to visit the hotel and beautiful Bergen city once again. Thank you team Steens!

We stayed one night following a self guided fjords tour in September 2013. Kristian picked us up at the airport (dropped off rental car), and gave us a brief tour on the way to the b&b. Got the room on the first floor (one up). Nice accommodations, typical Norwegian decor -simple but functional. He recommended a local Italian restaurant a 5 minute walk where we had a gret meal, reasonable for expensive Norway. Breakfast was simple but very good (waffles) and other goodies. Kristian drove us to the train station later that morning. All in all enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Kristian and kristina bought this place 3 years ago and did such a good job of renovating it. You can see the labor of love around the place

the b&b has 3 rooms and 2 shared bathrooms and I would recommend getting the biggest and slightly more expensive room because...
1. its located on the 2nd floor so you do not need to take the steep staircase leading to the 2nd and 3rd rooms.
2. its right beside the bathrooms so you do not need to worry about stumbling down the staircase just to get to the toilets.
3. walking around the 2nd floor area is less noisy. I stayed in the 2nd room and I can hear voices from the 3rd room.
4. the 3rd floor walls are dirty looking from all the scratches that must've been from their guest's luggages (yes its that narrow)

breakfast consisted of cheese, salami, two kinds of salad and boiled eggs. We had pancakes/ waffles on the second day but maybe they can add some warm dishes like scrambled eggs next time.

Overall, the place has character. the owners are friendly but not intrusive. its in a great location being in one of the laneways that bergen is famous for. A few mins walk and you are right by the harbour and fish market.

Room Tip: choose the biggest and most expensive room. its worth it!
