“OK, but not out of this world”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

The staff here are great and there are some very nice little touches that really add to the experience. The biggest problem however was the size of the rooms and beds. Both very small. It was fairly expensive for what you got in comparison to other locations around the world but then Norway is in general expensive so this is forgiveable. I would stay here again next time I'm in Bergen on business but I might want to try some other places for comparison.

Hotel is in a quiet location just a few minutes walk from Bergen Fish Market and Town Centre. Staff are very friendly and helpful and speak excellent English. Room (for 2) was enormous with settee and two armchairs as well as desk & chair, queen sized bed and still room to have a party in the centre of the room. Controllable heating. Very light and warm bathroom. Soft, but very comfortable bed. Wide range of delicious food for breakfast. Didn't try the restaurant for evening meals as it is expensive (as is every evening meal in Norway).
Free tea/coffee 24/7 in large comfortable public lounge, and free delicious make-your-own waffles 4pm - 6pm. Free internet access on 2 computers/wi fi if you have your own.
Will definitely stay here again if we return to Bergen

Room Tip: Some rooms have harbour view, but we requested a quiet room so were up on the top floor overlooking...

Located a very short walk - 5 minutes - from the centre tis hotel although not much from the outside is fine. Good reception staff, excellent rooms (try and get a double on a corner), clean, well furnished, comfortable beds. Complimentary tea/coffee and cook your own waffles between 4 and 6 daily in the very comfortable lounge. Good breafast buffet.

Room Tip: Try and get a double on a corner

Stayed here for 3 nights and I must admit was a bit dissappointed from outside but once inside it was very nice and clean and neat and tidy. The staff were as usual in Norway helpful and efficient. The room was very ordinary, bit like an Ibis or travel lodge, but clean and it did the job. There was a nice friendly feel and a little courtyard where candels were lit and people sat chatting, having a drink or playing guitares.
We have stayed all over Norway on business and pleasure, and this was the cheapest of hotels, so very good value for money. We went by sea, and it was a bit of a walk to the harbour terminal, but not far into town and all the hotspots. So quite well situated. I would say if you want cheap and cheerful give it a go. Very nice staff.

Room Tip: Nothing really just good value for money.

this hotel doesn't belong to a chain as far as i know. so it is very individualistic but you have to walk quite some time to downtown.

in my case the rate on the hotel website was considerably lower than what i was offered on sites like expedia etc.

Had to split my time between two hotels on a short stay because of a mid-summer tourist rush in Bergen, and kind of glad I did. The Augustin Hotel is located in a rather nondescript area on the far side of the small harbor from the main tourist sights. For some reason the walk to the center was just depressing. The reception was very friendly, but the room was small and plain...almost bleak. The breakfast was fine. Wifi worked well. Not terribly good value even by the extortionate standards of high season Bergen.
