“Good base for visiting Bergen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012

Lovely, large standard double room. Clean and comfortable. Staff on reception very friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee available (free) all day in lounge and waffles from 4pm to 6pm was a real bonus after a day of sightseeing. Well located and convenient for tourist attractions and restaurants. Excellent buffet breakfast.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 222. On two levels with plenty of space

We got 'bumped' to staying here after a late night arrival and booking in Best Western Hotell Hordaheimen. The Best Western took it upon themselves to move our booking to the Augustin, which we were perterbed about (due to a huge bike rally....but they in fact didn't know why the city was fully booked!)
We were on the 5th floor and had a nice view of the fjord. The bed was comfortable, the room nicely decorated. Underfloor heating and towel bar heating in the bathroom (however the switch wasn't labelled, so we accidentally left it off overnight). The bathroom was basic, but clean. Mini bar, old basic hotel standard hair dryer.
We had originally booked the Best Western Hotell Hordaheimen not only for it's location, but for it's breakfast. They had agreed to let us go back and eat there in the morning, however we first peeked in at the Augustin's and decided to stay there, because it was a great breakfast spread, very filling, with even nice little extra touches like strawberry puree shot smoothies, and the option to make a takeaway lunch basket for 75 kr (which we didn't do but is a really nice option to give people!)
They also have a beautiful lobby, with free tea and coffee all day. Apparently waffles are made everyday at 4pm there too, but we missed them, and they have a beautiful wine bar, which we missed.
Check out got a bit busy, as they seemed understaffed.
Overall, a pleasant say, and I'd happily return.

As mentioned by many others, the rooms are small. The first room we were given was so narrow that there was no space for a bedside table. We were given a better room, but it was still small. However, the service and food was good.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a corner room

The staff here are great and there are some very nice little touches that really add to the experience. The biggest problem however was the size of the rooms and beds. Both very small. It was fairly expensive for what you got in comparison to other locations around the world but then Norway is in general expensive so this is forgiveable. I would stay here again next time I'm in Bergen on business but I might want to try some other places for comparison.

Hotel is in a quiet location just a few minutes walk from Bergen Fish Market and Town Centre. Staff are very friendly and helpful and speak excellent English. Room (for 2) was enormous with settee and two armchairs as well as desk & chair, queen sized bed and still room to have a party in the centre of the room. Controllable heating. Very light and warm bathroom. Soft, but very comfortable bed. Wide range of delicious food for breakfast. Didn't try the restaurant for evening meals as it is expensive (as is every evening meal in Norway).
Free tea/coffee 24/7 in large comfortable public lounge, and free delicious make-your-own waffles 4pm - 6pm. Free internet access on 2 computers/wi fi if you have your own.
Will definitely stay here again if we return to Bergen

Room Tip: Some rooms have harbour view, but we requested a quiet room so were up on the top floor overlooking...

Located a very short walk - 5 minutes - from the centre tis hotel although not much from the outside is fine. Good reception staff, excellent rooms (try and get a double on a corner), clean, well furnished, comfortable beds. Complimentary tea/coffee and cook your own waffles between 4 and 6 daily in the very comfortable lounge. Good breafast buffet.

Room Tip: Try and get a double on a corner
