“Great stay at Augustin in Bergen”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

We just returned from Norway. Three of us (adults) stayed 2 nights at the Augustin Hotel. The service was very good, the room was great, plenty of room and nice bathroom. Attractive decorating in room and hallways. Good breakfast, service, and coffee and tea all day. Very good location, near center of things, convenient walk to attractions, comfortable place, great desk service. I would stay there again and recommend it.

Room Tip: We needed a room with three single beds for adults and the room provided what we needed. I communic...

Augustin is a nice little inn right on the harbor. No great views or anything but warm enough service, good breakfast and an easy, short walk to the center of things.

My room was VERY small, with a single bed and little room for much else, but it was fine.

I'd recommend it as a cheaper alternative to some of the pricier hotels around the waterfront.

no complaints.

Stayed 4 nights in July 2012. The staff were excellent, breakfast good (though the breakfast area gets crowded when the hotel is full), and there's free tea/coffee all day. Location is great (5 mins walk from Fish Market, where the big airport bus drops you, or the smaller Airport Express bus stops on the doorstep) - Bergen is a small city so everywhere is in easy reach. The rooms are quite small and ours had no wardrobes or drawers, so you will live out of your suitcase. This isn't necessarily the end of the world as Bergen is so eye-wateringly expensive that you'll probably only be able to afford to stay for a few days!

We stayed at the Augustin Hotel in Bergen for two nights at the beginning of July 2012. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train/bus station and is close to all the main sights of Bergen.

The standard of cleanliness in the hotel was high and the staff very helpful. Our room was of adequate size and over looked the harbour, which was a little noisy. Our only complaint would have to be the bathroom floor - it became very slippery when wet.

The breakfast had a wide choice of fresh food which definitely set-you up for the day. There was also free tea/coffee in the lobby 24/7.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Augustin Hotel and would certainly stay again if we were in Bergen.

Stayed for one night and will never come back. We could hear every single word from the neighbours through the ventilation system, even which program they watched on television until 5 am.

Stayed here for one Saturday night in early July 2012.

A nice welcome, the staff were friendy, helpful and professional throughout. The standard of cleanliness was high.

My main concern with this hotel is that the room - and ensuite bathroom in particular - were so small for the price paid (nearly £120). As noted by another reviewer, showering floods the bathroom floor, not surprising as the whole bathroom (with sink and WC) is not much larger than a shower cubicle.

The location is fine, close to the old harbour and the tourist spots. Ignore those complaining about location and distance from the railway station - I walked it in a few minutes (no hills) with two large backpacks without problem.

The breakfast room was packed out on the Sunday morning, largely due to a coach tour it seemed. There was a good selection for breakfast and the food was of high quality. I took refuge in the excellent coffee room/library (no charge for coffee). The staff helped me print out my boarding pass and I was not charged for this.

Had high expectations based on other reviews and was somewhat disappointed. The hotel is well located within walking distance of the harbor and the city center. The airport express bus picks up right in front on it. The room was very small and outdated with old furniture and stained draperies. No reading light or lamp by the head of the bed, but there was one by the food of the bed (?). The bathroom was also extremely small and showering resulted in flooding the floor.
Upon arrival, there were no shower towel and no extra pillow. Receptionist explained that "they were full with extra cots in every room" (sic). Eventually she brought both, several hours later.
Floors were squeaky, Wifi (included) worked well. Breakfast was average (no sweets or pastries).
For the price paid, one would expect more, even in Norway.
