My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Augustin in Bergen for two nights in October while on our honeymoon. We were very happy to discover that the hotel is located in a great area of Bergen; right across the water from the Bryggen Wharf and steps from the Fish Market. The Flybussen to and from the Bergen airport is less than a five minute walk from the hotel as well, making it very easy to get around without having to pay for taxis. The hotel has a modern and clean look to the lobby and the staff behind the desk were very helpful. The breakfast offered is also satisfying; plenty to choose from and fresh food. The hotel is currently being renovated and we were unfortunately put in a room in the older section. While the room wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't as updated as we might have preferred. The window looked into an apartment building right across the way and in between the two building was a small cafe which was noisy with people at times in the evenings. However, there was a flat screen tv and a clean good-sized bathroom, both of which were appreciated. Overall, this is a fine hotel in a great location but not sure it's worth it for the high price per night they charge.

We selected this hotel because we could get a room for three, which is a positive. The area around the hotel is under construction, so getting to it in our car was not easy. The desk person was not able to give clear directions on where we should park, and we had to come back for further clarification three times. Her attitude was poor--she found it amusing that we were not able to follow her oral directions or her scribbles on a map. The room was a decent size: two single beds and a sofa bed. The bathroom was a good size and had a shower over the tub, but the grout between the tiles in the bathroom was very dirty--gross actually. I've never seen anything close to that in any hotel anywhere in the world. Breakfast was good, although the tables were not cleaned very well, which was unappetizing. If you're walking, the location of the hotel is very good, and their restaurant is also good, if not on the pricey side, even for Norway.

We stayed at the Augustin Hotel in Bergen Norway for 3 nights and stayed in room 502. It was on the top floor with a view of the tower near the Bryggen Historic district. Great staff, complimentary coffee all day and a wonderful breakfast. The location is withing a 5 minute walk to the fish market and information center.

First stay at the Augustin - negotiated a good group rate for colleagues and customers for a European Energy Conference at Bergen Energi. Staff were very polite and helped us keep track of our group for the various trips and activities.

Rooms were a normal Bergen standard - a little small but very clean, and the bed quite comfortable! A good alternative to other established hotels in the city and a great base to explore from!

We stayed for one night after completing the Flam rail journey.
The hotel was located close to the boat harbour but about 15-20 minute walk from the railway station. The room was nice - lots of space and comfortable bed. One downside was groups of people in the courtyard below our window (we were on the 3rd floor). The noise of people conversing loudly did not start until 11pm and continued until after 1am. This interupted my sleep but other than that was a good stay. I suggest you request a room that doesnt face onto the court yard.

This hotel was very nice. The lobby was warm and welcoming. Two free internet computers available in the lobby. I couldn't get the wireless to work, however - not sure if it was my computer or something else. Breakfasts were excellent and worth filling up on for the day considering prices in Norway. Rooms were spacious for Europe and well decorated. Lobby had a nice sitting room with 24 hour tea and coffee. I didn't try the well known restaurant.

Assigning a rating to the Augustin Hotel was not an easy task. On one hand, staff is wonderful and friendly, and the common areas relatively modern (especially the winebar area). There is also a computer in the lobby that one can use which is a nice touch. Breakfast is also included in the price. These are the things that I was pleased with.

What I was less than impressed with is the actual room: very little in term of decor, smallish and an overall feeling that this even though the room was well maintained and clean - it waz extremely outdated. All in, this was an very basic room. What probably schocked me is the price that a place like this can command. Although a bargain when considering other nearby options in Bergen, the nightly rate was about 2 times higher than what I would have paid for a similar room in other European countries, and close to 4 times prices in North America. Yes - I know - Norway is expensive!

The hotel is located is short walk from the fish market (5-10 minutes) and facing the Bryggen area. If coming from the airport by shuttle bus, the fish market is where you want to get dropped off. If coming by train, it is also walking distance - depending on how much luggage you have. From my room, views were limited and the street that the hotel is on, in itself, is uninspiring. However, it is only one block away from the street running along the water

As mentioned, breakfast is included. It is a "typical" Norwegian breakfast, featuring - for example - a lot of smoked fish. it is a self serve buffet and the setup is somewhat cafeteria style for juice, milk, coffee and dishes. The restaurant was very crowded in the morning.

The Augustin Hotel is not a bad place - probaly just a case of misaligned expectations and as mentioned, service is amazing. It is just that $200/night usually gets your something a little bit more higher end...
