Not overly friendly at reception. Stains on doona were a severe setback. Room size and other general cleanliness and room servicing was quite acceptable. Room was hot with limited opportunity for natural ventilation.

Booked the room for one person and for one night. Got the room in the sixt floor, with a maybe 10 square meters, bed with a size 80 x 200 or similar and with no minibar, no fridge.. One window was a bit broken and was not easy to open / close. However, there was a place for fridge/minibar under a TV, but it looks was removed.. maybe broken too, whatever.. Stayed until late evening and I have chosen to leave, not to spend more time in this hotel as it was not under my expectation.

Room Tip: Better rooms is only in the other hotels.

Great location right next to Bryggen and the bottom station of the Floibanen. We ended up in a ‘Superior’ room, although I had to ask what was superior about it as the room was pretty plain with dated furniture, an average bathroom and not a single picture on the walls. The answer from reception was that it was bigger and had tea and coffee facilities. These were represented by a small kettle and a couple of teabags and sachets of instant. Rather pointless when there was an espresso machine and a range of teas freely available from the ground floor. We were at the front of the hotel opposite a bar/club so in order to leave the windows open at night (which we had to, it was very stuffy on the top floor) earplugs were needed.
Breakfast buffet was extensive but coffee weak. We were allowed in early for breakfast when we had a ferry to catch which was helpful. Pretty sure there are better hotels in Bergen.

Room Tip: Don't bother with a 'Superior' room - it isn't!

Great location and large old rooms. Bathroom was large are recently redone. The interior of the room was tired, needed paint, furnature etc. Our sitting room had a hole in the wall from a fist or something!! But the room was clean. Bedroom had no windows and felt like a cell.

Room Tip: Get a room that is high up and overlooks the port. Do not have a street room or you will be dancing...

Booked a superior room since I needed a proper work station and some space.

A few minutes after my arrival the fire alarm went off. No problems evacuating through the emergency exit stairs except from the door to the street would not open. Some people got anxious but finnaly it worked. Fire engines arrived quickly and there was no fire.

In the bathroom some tiles on the bathtub was loose and the sink did not work properly as the water did not disapear unless I was holding a handle.

The free Internet did not work properly and I tried iPhone, ipad and my laptop. Not possible to do my work as the signals went on and off the entire evening.

I paid 1900kr ($315) so i expected better.

Breakfast was nice and the location is good. close to the most essential including the airport bus.

Hotel in great location on water front - close to funicular, fish market and airport bus stop. Hotel has nice entrance and reception area. Staff helpful with leaving bags in storage for early arrival/late departure. Breakfast plentiful with good selection to suit all tastes. Drinks machine available - not always replenished however. Stayed for 3 nights in ' twin' room which was two beds pushed together to essentially make double. We would have preferred some space between us!. Room was an attic with sloping windows which were dirty so obscuring any view. Room on small side but beds comfy. Bathroom small with just shower. Toiletries were provided. We did have mini fridge which was just about cold. We had room 529 which seemed to be in a separate part of hotel with its own lift. To conclude plus points location and breakfast - minus points small room. However if travelling again to Bergen would use hotel, but would like larger room.

We stayed at First Hotel as part of a tour. The staff was excellent and the breakfast was good. We liked the location most of all. It was convenient but not noisy. The rooms were small but we spent little time there. We would recommend the hotel and stay again.
