“Not that good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

There were 7 of us. It was dark, dingy, cramped, seemed kind of boring. I supposed if you are a true student of this period, maybe it would be of great interest. To the average tourist, it wasn't that much to see. All 7 of us agreed that it wasn't worth the time or money to see it, since there were so many more interesting sights in Bergen to see. For others, this may be of interest.

“Take trip back in time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

The museum provides a window to what a traders enclave was like for a multinational organisation some 400 to 700 years ago.

Those with an interest in medieval history, international trade and preservation should not miss this.

Be careful of the steep narrow and slippery stairs .

“History Buffs Happy Spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

I loved the Hanseatic Museum. It brings the life of a merchant/trader of this time period to life, and shows the museum goer how they lived. I loved the little beds that were sort of like cabinets, set up for the people who worked in the building in the old days. Everything was so lovingly restored and it really was a unique look into an often ignored part of European history. The building itself is the star of the show however. Amazing stairs that tilt and you feel like the building is going to fall down, but it's really strong and all wood. I loved it.

“Small, dark place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Seemed very tedious to me. Perhaps if you are a serious student of the Hanseatic period it would be of more interest, to see how it was in those days. The associated tour was of more interest.

“Don't miss this”

How did they live here with no heating? We wandered through this old building and really enjoyed all we learnt about Hanseatic times and way of life.
