On a clear day, the views are incredible.

At peak times, there is a long wait for the cable car. Worth doing if you are not in a rush. Avoid peak times if you can...

Exellent view. The walk up to the Mt Ulriken is not easy and demand some physical strength but if you are physically fit you can do it. I walked this morning it was a challenging yet rewarding walk. There are sign posts to indicate the way up and actually there are some paths to choose from. 1/3 of the path is well paved and remaining path are rocks and stones. It took around one hour to finish.
To get there I took Bus no.2 on the same road with the tourist information centre and got off at Haukeland N. If you don't have bus ticket with you, got one at the convenient store opposite to the tourist information centre.

Hang the expense, take the cable car (or hike up if you are fit) to get sweeping views of Bergen, Hordaland county and the North Sea.

On the day of my visit I was disappointed to see man made rubbish strewn around. Watch out for 'natures' rubbish in the form of sheep droppings. Sheep wander the mountain top.

The view from the top is grate on a nice day.
The price is however too high.
You get a very nice view of Bergen from Fløyen to 1/3 of the price.
I prefer this view because it is closer to the old part of the city.

There is no need to take the expensive bus from near the fishmarket - just catch a no 12 to Montana and then walk up if possible, there are several routes varying from steep to not so steep. The path is not too difficult though a bit of scrambling is involved; you will be walking on rocks and stones though and I imagine they could be slippery in wet weather (fortunately we chose a dry day). Wear walking boots.

Once you get up there, make sure you go to the cairn which seems to mark the true summit as well as (or instead of) the radio tower and restaurant where the cable car lands. Views are much better from the cairn as you can see all around, not just down to Bergen.
