The short movie about Edvard Grieg and small museum were very well presented. Grieg's summer home was also quite interesting, with its lakefront location.

You need to pick up a car to visit this site and at the end of the day it is only worthy if you are mad about classical music or you are a very proud Norwegian. Nice house and nice view otherwise but not worth the detour

This was a short visit as part of a cruise excursion but it was well worth the visit. This house was set in a peaceful woodland. The house itself was very pleasing on the eye, typical Norwegian architecture. It gave a very interesting insight into how Greig & his dear wife lived & died. I didn't get to see the place where their ashes had been scattered due to mobility problems but it looked beautiful, a little winding path down to the lake. There is also an information center where you can bye gifts & public conveniences. The small concert hall had a grass roof & looked inviting but I didn't go in there. It would be lovely in the summer time to attend a concert here!

Set upon idyllic grounds among the Norwegian composer's home and composition studio, this modern museum and concert hall feature video displays, live piano performances, and various Grieg books, memorabilia and music. It's an easy commute from Bergen: a 15-20 minute light rail journey followed by a short walk to the town. A pleasant experience for both musicians and general visitors to the Bergen area.

Grieg's house - for that is what the museum is, or was - is a bus or coach ride out of Bergen, travelling through road tunnels and then lovely scenery. This is Norway at its best. The museum is like many other 'House of' museums - but here, if you are sensitively inclined, you can 'feel' the presence of Grieg and the venue certainly gives you a feel for his music. World class pianists give concerts in the concert hall here - a very modern if a little uncomfortable auditorium (hard, pine benches). Well worth the effort of getting there.
