The house is charming (if small - only downstairs available to view). The location peaceful and easy to reach by the tram. Grieg's work space reminiscent of Dylan Thomas's 'shed" though a lot tidier. My one regret is missing the lunchtime concert, as the concert hall looked a wonderful space to spend time in.

Our good friends in Bergen, Norway took us to lunch and a concert at Edvard Grieg's home, "Trldhaugen". The museeum consists of Grieg's home, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and a small concert hall with a beautiful view of his little cabin on the lake, where he did most of his composing. The tour through his house was very interesting and shed light on his lifestyle and the many famous and not-so-famous friends he had made in his life. Well worth a visit. Especially so if you get to hear the 30 minute Lunsjkonsert (lunch concert) with world class pianist Rune Alver as we did. In our audience that weekend was a group of men, who turned out to be a men's chorusvisiting the place; we got treated to a couple of songs by them on the spirit of the moment

We attended a piano recital in the beautiful concert hall next to Grieg's home. The backdrop to the Steinway piano on stage is a huge floor to ceiling glass window overlooking a view of the fjord. The artist played excerpts of Grieg's piano concertos. In addition the artist shared his knowledge of Edvard Grieg's life in between 6 different piano pieces. It was absolutely delightful!

It's no wonder Grieg composed such wonderful music, while overlooking the Nordas Lake. It's gorgeous. After a tour of his house and the museum we were treated to a piano recital by a lovely young woman, Gunilla Sussmann, who played some of Grieg's lesser known pieces beautifully. All this while overlooking the lake and trees through the window. Fabulous!

Just outside Bergen is the well-preserved and lovely home of composer Edvard Grieg, one of the few artists to achieve great fame and financial success in his own lifetime. His home was unfortunately under renovation during our visit so the outside was obscured by construction, although the interior is open and interesting. Tauck arranged for a wonderful private concert in the grounds' small auditorium which was a visit highlight. Excellent film in his life in the reception center.
