We stayed for three nights. the rooms are very small but the rooms were recently renovated. The main problem is that there is no where to pack away clothes and limited hanging space the bed was comfortable. The common areas were very pleasant and the hotel has historic value.

It is very close to the station and is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main tourist areas. There were 2 supermarkets close by which was great if you are on a budget.

Breakfast was great - substantial and a buffet - with delicious breads and catering for all tastes.

My wife and I satyed here for one night after our Hurigruten Cruise (brilliant) before catching the 8.00 am train which left from the station across the road from the Hotel. The hotel is old but has been refurbised and retains it's old charms and a beaut breakfast to boot, at an unbelievable winter rate for Brergen accommodation. 10 minutes walk from the centre of Bergen or the Hansiatic Wharf area or all manner of retaurants. Comfortable beds, clean and quiet.

Room Tip: Just a nice place to stop.

Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel had charming interiors. Whisky Bar had wooden panelling and chandelier lighting - a place to relax whilst enjoying the free tea and coffee or alternatively a place to eat and drink alcohol. We liked the broad staircase to the bedrooms and the furnishings eg the grand piano and regency style table and chairs. Our bedroom however did not have enough storage room for clothes but the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast room had a similar character to the Whisky Bar and they played classical music which added a touch of class. The breakfast was excellent Norwegian style food with enough variation to suit most tastes. The hotel was very easy to find if you arrived by train - it was right next to the station but we were not disturbed by any noise. The Bryggen was a short walk along attractive streets with wooden houses or an alternative route was by the small lake Smalungeren. Being next to the station meant the hotel was convenient for the Norway in a Nutshell excursion. If you wanted to visit Grieg's house then the recommended tram stopped right next to the station. We enjoyed our stay.

Stayed here this weekend 17.06.11. Check in was excellent and the staff were really helpful and informative even though there was a huge coach party dominating reception.

Rooms were pretty small - similar to New York style - making the best of space. However the room was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The only problem was it was warm and no air conditioning. This could be a real problem in hot weather.

There was a large choice of breakfast - hot and cold, and it stayed open until 10.30 am. Staff constantly refilled everything and cleared tables again making it comfortable.

Location is excellent too. We had an early start on Saturday and the hotel is next to the train station. Its five minutes from the harbour which is just right to be away from the main crowds and bussle.

I suspect that this used to be the ‘establishment’ hotel in Bergen – with impressive communal areas and a grand stair case. I also suspect that management haven’t spent any money on this hotel in the last 10 years. That said, our room was enormous with a huge bathroom – both were comfortable and clean and we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel.
This hotel is across the road from the train station – which is convenient if you are doing fjord tours (Norway in a nutshell is heartily recommended!) and we didn’t notice any train-noise. It is a 5-10 minute stroll to the heart of town.
We chose this hotel as it was cheaper than a fancy hotel close to the harbour, and looked nicer than the ‘cheap’ hotels close to the harbour.
We’d recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bergen who values a clean room, good breakfast and a conveniently located hotel.

Room Tip: if the room's small ask for a bigger one

First off, the location is about perfect. Very close to the drop off point for the bus from the airport. Also, right across the street from the train station. It wasn't that far off a walk from the Bryggen area and the shopping area

Check in was easy. The room was a bit small, but no worse than most European hotels. The curtains did a decent job of blocking out the 4 am sun. The beds were okay. The weird part was the shower. There was a shower curtain, but nothing else blocking off the shower from the rest of the bathroom. So, the water from the shower would flow through the rest of the bathroom.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good. Lots of variety.

Grand Hotel Terminus is a perfect choice for those concluding Norway in a Nutshell in Bergen as the hotel is right across from the railway station.
The property feels a little more tired than charming and the rooms can use freshening. We had a creaky old bathtub that kept losing its metal frame. Bring your own shampoo.
The staff was very helpful and the hotel does seem to be a better value than some Bergen alternatives. Breakfast was above average.
