“P-Hotels Bergen”
Reviewed 11 September 2012

Location-wise this is a good place to stay in Bergen, but its poor facilities does not warrant the price. We paid NKr980/night, about US170. This is a hotel which requires a major overhaul.

First of all the Football Bar at the hotel front shouldn't be there. On the afternoon of our arrival the bar was full of loud and inebriated football fans watching football on a big screen TV, the atmosphere of which presented a rather intimidating impression to new arrivals. Who knows how the drunken fans might act if their favourite team loses.

Secondly, the bathroom wash basin in our room leaked the whole 3 nights we were there despite our complaint.

Thirdly, the staircase doesn't allow access to the lobby. One has to rely on the very slow lift. The breakfast only consisted of a sandwich, a fruit and a small packet of fruit juice, unlike other hotels in Norway which typically provided full buffet breakfast daily.

On the positive side, the hotel front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a stone's throw from the town centre and harbour.

Given the general price levels in Bergen, this hotel is at the cheaper end of the price range. Yet it is still pretty expensive (we paid approx. 110 eur), especially considering what you get for it. The room was relatively small, bathroom far from luxurious and pretty old. Everything was clean though, yet very tired. There is no breakfast room, so you get a low quality sandwich, apple, and apple juice to eat in your room. Not a very good or elegant solution. The free coffee in the lobby doesn't taste great.
I needed earplugs to sleep some of the nights, especially when you want to leave your window open.

On the plus side: internet is free, and the location is very central.

Good location downtown, 10 mnutes walk from the fishmarket and the trainstation.
Old building, old infrastuctures, clean and basic room with tv and free wifi,no minibar, no hairdrier.
Breakfast is delivered in a box to your room. It is the worst breakfast ever had because of the low quality. You get an apple, an orange juice and a sandwich, which has the tast of its packaging. In the lobby free coffe and tea.

Price is 1400 nkr for a double

By all means stay away from this hotel if you like: Good night sleep - clean rooms - nice breakfast
There is a night club on the right side adjoining the hotel. Extremely loud. Stayed there on a tuesday and it was packed and very noisy. Impossible to sleep for those with rooms facing the street. I thought I was clever and asked for a room on the back side. Was not so clever after all. There are apartement buildings in the back and there were people coming and going the whole night with a lot of noise. Got a one hour sleep from 24:00 to 07:00 in the morning. The breakfast is a joke - a plastic bag with an apple, orange juice and a dry sandwich hanging on your door handle in the morning. - I threw it away.
A Hotel ? NO - A poor hostel? Yes. The only good thing about this place is that it is located in the center of town.
Stay away

Room Tip: There is no such thig as good rooms in this place. Id rather sleep in the woods.

The room was small, old bathroom. The walls are paper thin! I woke up with some strange insect stings on my arms and legs..it must have been something in the bed. Terrible breakfast! We had to eat at a cafe close by. I would much rather have spent a little more on a nicer hotel with good breakfast included! Never staying at P-hotels again!!

wow i'm pretty easy to please but this felt like a hostel. what a ripoff! this was more expensive than a really nice hotel in oslo which was shocking. first of all we get to the lobby which was okay but a bit dingy and then we find out we are staying in another building? there were some sketchy men standing in the door way and when you are 3 girls together you have to keep your wits about you. the bottom floor of this building is a smelly bar full of old gross men. then we get to our room. there is no safe. there are 3 cots here. the room smells of stale cigarettes. the bathroom smelled like feces. thank god there was no feces still in the toilet. i felt dirty after taking a shower. even after we left and arrived in stockholm my pajamas still smelled like that dirty stale room. GROSS. i can't believe we paid as much as we did.
on the positive side, the area was rpetty nice close to restaurants and the water and bars and clubs.

For half the price it could have been ok. A spacios room.
Dirty room.Clean sheets.
Dirty waterboiler. (for tea/ coffe)
No breakfastroom, but a plasticbag with juice and a readymade sandwich .
Not Norwegianspeaking receptionist.
A LOT of trouble with our booking, that was made 8 moths ago. (to be sure to have a room for Springsteenconsert.)
Bad value for money. 1500,- nok pr night/doubleroom.
The YMCA costs one third (450nok), and was clean, neat, friendly and is located in the very center of the city. (Bryggen)
